Very happy it is fixable and you are ok - except for shoulder!
Question: Did they look REAL CLOSE at the left front suspension?
Suggestion: make them put on all new factory parts ... no bondo!

And, the distracted driver thingie?
About 2010 I was on I-70 and was passing a vehicle with a bumper sticker that said "put down the phone and drive!"
Guess what the driver was doing?
No, not using his phone.
He had some papers on his steering wheel looking at them!

Oh, and running lights?
Two lanes each way with left turn lanes also.
I had a green.
About 4 to five car lengths back from the white line of the opposing left turn lane was a guy in a Mustang obviously intending to run the red light.
I (and other cars) exercised our legal right to go through the intersection.
The guy in the mustang slammed on the binders and slid to a stop.
Since I was closest to him as I went by I wagged my INDEX finger at in in the way that means "no, no, no!"
I know it was risky but with his being that far from the line I was sure he would not risk both hurting his pretty Mustang and what he would face for his obvious failure to obey the law.

Well just remember those machines are being made by humans 😬
This poem by Bertolt Brecht speaks perfectly to that issue:

“General, your tank is a powerful vehicle
It smashes down forests and crushes a hundred men.
But it has one defect:
It needs a driver.

General, your bomber is powerful.
It flies faster than a storm and carries more than an elephant.
But it has one defect:
It needs a mechanic.

General, man is very useful.
He can fly and he can kill.
But he has one defect:
He can think.”
― Bertolt Brecht

Sorry to hear this.

They pretty much screwed themselves though with their admission of guilt, so at least there's that.

Right after I dropped the wife off at work, was hit when making a left turn with a green arrow. Other driver ran a red light. I have a dash cam ordered, just hasn't been delivered yet. Other driver was honest though, and told the responding police officer that they were distracted and ran the red light. (picture of their vehicle blurred to protect their identity, they were wearing a work badge)

Currently working through their insurance, stopped by my dealer for a quote: currently at $9,500 in repairs.

I'd say it's a pretty safe truck, I walked away with only a sore left arm from hitting the door panel.

Dealer said truck should be safe to drive now as-is, but we'll be taking the wife's Jetta until I can get repairs finalized.

I'll have them take a good look at it, the quote I have is from visual inspection only. I noticed a neat Wuh Wuh Wuh sound coming from the front driver side wheel well when braking at low speeds, so they'll be in there already.

I'm still waiting to hear from the other driver's insurance adjuster, sent them their pictures yesterday so we'll see what they have to say.

Doesn't look like $9500 in damage. Does your insurance company want a 2nd opinion?

10 grand, so far.... That was on visual inspection only, I noticed a neat Wuh Wuh Wuh sound from the front driver wheel-well (impact point) when braking at low speeds taking it home.

The $9,500 quote is from my dealer's body shop, I swung by before I heard from other driver's insurance adjuster (going through their insurance since they were at fault).

Kind of a wagon before the horse situation, but that quote is my "2nd opinion" while I wait to hear from other driver's insurance adjuster.

Quote is $4,350 in parts, $1,026 in paint, and the rest is labor/tax.

wow, that's 9500 bucks of damage? Did someone go thru the window in the black car that's quite a large hole....
Yeah, I was surprised that it added up to $9,500. That's about a third of the cost of a new Mav.

Make sure you get a check from his insurance company for devaluation now that it will have a car fax showing an accident. Go for at least three grand in lost trade in value.

Speeding. Running stop signs. And traffic lights. They have no fear.

The King needs to issue a proclamation !
I traveled to Saudi Arabia in 70s. No traffic signals then. So they put them up to clear the confusion at street crossings. But accident rates still went up. Saudi not stopping at reds. The local Saudi folks said traffic lights for expats, not them. LoL
So the King issued proclamation that ALL folks shall stop at traffic lights, those that are red. In days following Kings announcement, Saudi police positioned at corners to ensure they do stop.

Oh the mentality.

Other driver was the only occupant of that vehicle, but that front-passenger door took most of the impact. The entire window shattered, they had glass all over the interior, including their lap.

Fortunately, it was safety glass, other driver had never been in a collision before. They were anxious to move, but I had taken a piece that had fallen and crumbled it in my hand to show them that it wasn't as sharp as they thought it was.
