Anyone paid over msrp taking delivery when promised msrp order?

Just curious if anyone was forced to pay over msrp at the time truck got delivered when the dealer said you would pay the msrp when you ordered it?

I have a funny feeling my dealer may do this to me. I'm not taking it even if its a penny over msrp, it's only a ford. lol.

I would not pay over the agreed to amount either.

I was also worried my dealer would try to pump up the price, but he didn't, so it all worked out just fine. Hopefully your purchase will also go smoothly.

I was also worried that my order would be involved in a railroad derailment, fall off the delivery truck AND be struck by a meteor. None of these things occurred either.

Did you go in and order from them? There should have been a contract at that point. I contacted ford and they said the dealer can do whatever they want because it is their truck until you pay for it. There are still none on lots here and the used are selling way over msrp.

I know lots of people we talking about it in 2022, but it does seem to be getting reported less in 2023.

You folks have me scared now, as I am aware that I am naive. When I "bought" my 2022 XL (my dealer's first Maverick order), I put $500 down and received what I presumed was a bona fide SALES CONTRACT, WITH THE PRICE CUT IN STONE. Was I naive to assume this?

PLENTY of Maverick owners have had a scummy dealer pull that on them. Really it's ridiculous for that to be happening now, when you might be able to find a Maverick on the lot somewhere. But in the last 2 years that has been a common complaint.

You cannot be forced to even take delivery, so forced to pay over agreed amount doesn't exist either. You may choose to do what you want, it's your money and as you said just a Ford pickup....a dime a dozen.

Yes, I went in and ordered from the dealer without a contract. It was all verbal, even the refunded $500 was verbal, .

Yea I also the assume the same thing for the reason that now a days bigger companies would practice honest business. It was all still verbal, lol. Anything can happen now.

Yea your right, bad choice of worlds; more like use me to get better profit. I wish I can buy it directly from Ford skipping the stealerships. I hope car mfr's can offer this in the future. Don't stealerships have better things to do than take advantage of customers?

So, I e-mailed the dealer today to make sure we were still on the same page. He wrote back that I would be charged MSRP plus tax, title and license. Nothing more. Thst was a relief. I'm glad to see dealers aren't all shifty.

Mine was over the phone with no deposit. Had the Ford email in 30 minutes. When my build was confirmed, I contacted my salesman. He said MSRP+TTL and no add ons. I guess we will see in a few weeks. I don't have personal relationship but bought a couple cars from them,

My dealer emailed me asking if I would consider any other vehicle on their lot other than the maverick I ordered. , definitely looking for opportunities there.
