I would rather see a human being (adult male) blasted and decapitated than watch a defenseless animal killed.
I suppose you'd rather see them twitching along the road after being hit by a vehicle, starving to death, dying a slow death from disease? Deer are a prey animal with not nearly enough predators to keep them in check and in healthy numbers. Nature is a cruel bitch, time for a reality check.

As we go about our busy lives, the sight of deer dashing in between cars on a busy roadway is a sight that has become too familiar in New Jersey. With the deer population rising exponentially, our communities are faced with drastic consequences.

To combat these problems, many towns have authorized government-sponsored deer hunts. Many believe hunting is an effective solution to the current deer epidemic, while others believe hunting to be morally unjust. While hunting may seem like a cruel practice, it can be beneficial to both the environment and the deer population as a whole, if regulated properly.

Despite killing individual deer, hunting is beneficial to the deer population because there is not enough food to sustain their current numbers. Every herbivore has natural predators that keep its population in check to prevent environmental damage and unhealthy population sizes. There are not enough predators in New Jersey to keep the population in check, and if we do nothing, deer will continue to rise in numbers until they run out of food and starve to death.

But you didn't watch it being killed? I guess you don't eat anything? Or only if it's in the grocery store because you don't see it dead, just parts of it? Sorry, I'm a hunter too and get tired of people saying you shouldn't hunt and kill any animals, but they have no problem eating beef, pork or chicken. Hell even some plants are killed so we can eat them.

All kidding aside, I could care less what people do with their personal time. This is Murica and people could do whatever they please (as long as it's legal) in their personal and recreational time.

Anyways, I'm debating if I should sell my 23 Maverick to get a 24 Lariat in Terrain. That color looks sweeeeet!

My sympathies to him, old, and struggling to get by, that's rough. I've made a promise to myself that if I ever end up in that position, I won't be around much longer. But everyone has their own reasons for wanting to stick around, I hope he has something to look forward to in life that makes it worth it.
Yeah, if you ever find yourself in that position ya might as well just take yourself out.

Funny thing is, he's a very happy man who has lived a good life and stayed within his means. He is healthy and spry for his age, despite two hip surgeries a couple decades ago. He owns what he has, and is not collecting welfare or wallowing around in debt like so many people nowadays. I have great respect for him.

Good Lord. It's all part of the natural and required food chain. Animals prey on and eat other animals and humans eat animals, beef, chicken, fish, etc along with other forms of nutrition. It's called survival. Doesn't matter if you acquire it by hunting or purchasing it in the grocery store.

I bet you hate lions, tigers and bears too… oh my.

People talk about the over population of deer and how it is unsafe and a nuisance to people, but only few have mentioned the problems that occurs due to overpopulation of a species. There is a thing called competition. If there are too many deer, they are consuming all of the food that other animals eat as well. So by letting the deer live and overpopulate, you are ultimately killing other cute woodland creatures in order for this to happen.
There is a scientific term called carrying capacity, which is the number of a species that a community can handle. It is a gentle balance, and usually controls itself by nature. Unfortunately, that doesn’t always happen and a species grows beyond that capacity (especially when helped by outside sources like humans) and it has devastating effects to both the habitat and those living in it.
For all the tree lovers out there, the government decided a long time ago that fire is bad and that trees need to be protected. With this protection, trees were allowed to grow without the fear of being cut down or burned as saplings. Forrest’s became thick with trees and people were happy. Many years later, trees began to die due to not enough water to go around which lead to invasive species like the bark beetle. This left many corpses of trees. And what is a dead tree (those of you that said “fire wood” are correct) over the past decade, Fires in California have been rampant, killing defenseless creatures, and polluting our environment way more than a fleet of Ecoboost Mavericks ever will.
the moral of the story is that conservation for the sake of conserving is not always the right answer.

Exactly, deer overpopulation and impingement on their habitat is a Big Thing. Deer suffering a horrible death from being run over is happening closer to cities all the time, at least in Texas.
I saw on fox this am where a deer jumped through a plate glass window of a restaurant in Tennessee. The reporter said it must have been hungry but being a young buck he was most likely locking horns with his reflection.

Kobe beef is my favorite 😋
I can't tell if you are joking or not. I would hope that if you find eating wild game offensive that you'd be vegan or at least vegetarian. I completely understand the thought process and the perspective there even though I don't ascribe to it. No hate.

I don't like seeing the pile on but hopefully you have some kind of coherent thought process here. I really don't get it.

Congratulations to the OP!

I loaded my 135lb 7 pointer, taken with my crossbow, on my cargo carrier plugged into the receiver hitch. @50 pounds of boned out organic free range meat in the freezer.

And yes I have a hybrid.
