Has anybody been able to connect an old Ipod video 4th gen to their Maverick ? I have tried a couple of bluetooth adapters but none of them seem to be compatible with the SYNC software. Any ideas ? My Maverick is 2023 Lariat.

I'm not sure the iPod is compatible. But I have an iPod nano around here somewhere. I'll play around with it out of curiosity.

Some are reporting that Bluetooth may not support the amount of data and others are having difficulty with the wired USB connecting which may be related to use of a cord which will not support the data stream.

Don't think any iPods will work with the Maverick. I tried my 80GB Classic (6th gen) and it said incompatible USB device.

I'd think it's obvious, but nobody has stated it - there is the FM transmitter method. I have a collection of iPods, 5th and 6th gen (I like fixing & upgrading them) and I've used Belkin's Tunebase cradle for them that works very well. iPod pops in and out of it easy. Turn off the vehicle and it pauses what you were listening to. Start it back up and it resumes playing where it left off. It also charges while playing, and audio quality isn't horrible. But then again, I've used it mostly for listening to audio books and not much music. If a digital USB connection doesn't work, it's an option.

It takes a lot of time to index the contents of a thumb drive at start up that's plugged into the Maverick if you have a lot of songs on it. But on an iPod, no indexing time required on each start up. Yay for technological progress!

This is interesting that people are having problems connecting iPods I’ve never had issues connecting an iPod to sync 3 before. I will have to try my fusion to see if the recent updates may have changed that.

The Tunebase I have has this model written on the bottom: F8Z049-BLK. Although it's old and I'd be surprised if it was still made, it does look like there are some available on eBay right now.
