I was checking the OEM Continental tires on my truck. Specifically looking to see if they stamped LT or P or other types. Frankly couldn’t see any such stamps.

Anyone has a clue?

Definitely not an LT, and while not formally labeled as a P, I would consider them a basic passenger car tire. I would label them as C. Cheap. Cr*ppy.

Looked and cannot find OEM indicator code. On continental web site you can filter for OEM tires and also by manufacturer and model and obtained name of tire OEM selected. IMPLIED is the name of tire OEM SELECTED is the code and could be selected by multiple manufactures. So aftermarket in the size manufacturer installed is the OEM tire. other tires with same name are NOT OEM.

As far as I can tell they are simply labeled "Standard Load"
Here are the specs from Continental. 8/32" new tread depth is ridiculous.

ETA: I got a laugh when I went out and looked at the DOT code on one of my take offs. It actually has the "BC" in it. I stand by my earlier post that it is for bicycle rating.

Thanks guys. Guess can only put a bag of groceries in the bed, and nothing more.

Will prob run them for maybe a year, then consider if want yo switch out to something better.

I planned on wearing mine out but kept getting flats. 3 in 3,000 miles with the wife on the side of the road since it is her car. Initially thought she was running over debris but it was just from running over small rocks in the road.

We drive on a 1.5 mile dirt road which was in really good shape at the time of the flats. I changed mine out and can't even resell them because they are cut to pieces. Really soft tires. Worst I've ever run.

If I had to do it over I'd have traded them in immediately at Discount tire. They give good money for new take offs from what I've heard.

Interesting information. I found this speed rating chart for ties, and do not see a rating for “H” rated tires. But, my guess it isn’t rated for interstate speeds…

Look toward the bottom... .H = up to 130 MPH.

Well, tough to hear that. Must be cheap tires? If that happens to my truck, especially if wife driving it, I will change em out quick. Like that old lady throwing a tire into a tire joint window.

I was on the Ford F250 forum and a RV forum. I always stated when it comes to tires, I hate buying tires. So much out there.

Doubt I do 130 anywhere .
years ago on BITOG (bob is the oil guy) forums, I remember reading a post from a tire expert - he said that H speed rated tires required nylon cap plies to meet the speed rating and implied a more robust tire. So for passenger vehicles, even if you don't need the extra speed, for the same price and other specs, I'd choose the H over the T (usually H costs more though and/or wears out faster)

I called our local Discount Tire a few days ago asking about trading in new take-off OEM’s, and I was told they stopped doing it. I did not ask if it was just our local store or a chain-wide adoption.

As far as I know it's always been an option of the local manager. If he has one or more sets already he won't be interested. Try different store.
