Ford has really disappointed me! My 2022 Maverick was rearended in June of this year. After waiting for what we thought were all the parts it went to the body shop the first week in September. Here it is two months later and no truck. There were a couple parts that were bent that could not be seen until the tear down. It was hit on the right rear corner, damaging the bumper, bent the box, the tailgate, bent the box floor and bent the trailer hitch pretty bad. One of the main items that was damaged and could not be seen was the beam that runs from the back of the truck up under the rear of the cab. I am told it is boron steel?? and cannot be repaired. Has to be replaced.

Body shop contacts Ford dealer, Ford dealer tells body shop part is unavailable with expected availability indefinite. That was 3 weeks ago. Now Ford customer service tells me, and the body shop they have no way to know if the part is available or even made because they cannot see that on their systems. No one seems to know if the part is even made??? Ford parts is telling the body shop it could be a month or possibly 3 or 4 months before that is available. I hope they are just being pessimistic.

I waited 16 months for the truck, drove it 7 months and it was damaged. Has 8000 miles on it. Insurance company will not total it out and no one wants to pay full price for a truck sitting in a body shop. Wish someone at Ford would know if a part is available or not. If they do I would love for them to contact me so I could put them in touch with the body shop so they could exchange part numbers! Cannot believe that replacement parts for vehicles are not available. Nuts!

Sounds about right. My brothers Gladiator was in the body shop for 3 months (partially due to being understaffed) waiting for parts and that was before the autoworker strike.

At least you don't have to worry about the high voltage battery going dead:).

Just in time inventory leaves little left over for situations like this especially when considering high demand vehicles like the Maverick.

It's part of the unibody I believe. Perhaps @Ford Motor Company can get the part number for the entire unibody?????

Boron Steel = Alloy containing usually less than 1% Boron increases hardness and can be heated to around 900°C stamped and rapidly cooled will allow a lighter gage steel to be used while keeping the strength of the heavier gage.

I had this problem when I worked at MB wholesale parts. Sprinter vans mostly. Would you rather sell an $80,000 van or pull the part and sell the panel for $800? They held parts to build vans, then only then to sell them. I had a new sprinter that went under a too low bridge on the delivery truck and got tuna-canned, but not totaled, what a project.

There are parts shortages for a number of vehicles (watch the news) especially for vehicles that they don't have enough parts to build the new ones. Factories get top priority over parts departments because it is expensive to shut down a plant because of parts shortages. My son is an independent, long haul trucker that had a front tire blow, causing $20,000 damage. It took 4 weeks to get the parts and a week to repair.

But get used to this - there aren't enough nurses, doctors, plumbers, teachers, truck drivers, fire fighters, police, manufacturing, military etc. Many younger people don't want to do the jobs we need but rather be podcasters and social media idiots.

Does the body shop know what it takes to replace that body member? I have seen totaled Mavericks at Copart and IAAI auction websites with the just bumper damage and the hitch receiver bent down.

Nice quote worth to be put in a frame in the living room!

That sucks! But I can relate, My 2023 Lariat Lux Tremor got rear eneded back in July after only having it 2 months with just under 2k miles on it. They just hit the trailer hitch and it crinkled both of those sub frame bars that run from the bumper to the middle of the car in parallel. That alone totalled mine. From the outside all the body looked perfect. not a dent in any metal, just in the corner of the plastic bumper and the trailer hitch was a few degrees pointing to the left, but not even noticable.

My Autoshop I took it to had to do a ton of research on how they would have to fix it and it came back as a $32,000 job. They would have to remove all the side panels in the back, truck bed, everything behind the cab, and even for some crazy reason would have to remove and repaint the roof to be able to replace both those subframe bars. I believe it was since they weld into the C pillar or something like that. But my insurance wanted to go through with the repair until I fought for them to total it due to cost and time to get the parts. The people at the shop really went to bat for me though on it being totalled and I feel like that helped some. It sounds like I am definitely better off with it having been totalled, instead of sitting in a shop. It sold at salvage auction for something over 20kish and they gave me 49k value for mine in insurance.

I would recommend getting another shop to get you a quote if possible or further inquire with the shop if they understand all the steps they will have to take to fix the problem. as with all that other body work needed to fix the other damaged parts you have, I can't imagine it costing less than mine to repair in the end.

Really sorry you are having to deal with all that though after waiting all that time, it really sucks. I hope it all works out for you in a timely manner though.

based on your description I'm surprised they didn't total it, are they providing a loaner?

I've been waiting on a DC/DC converter for 3+ months now. Ford can't tell me when it will be in. Been in the shop for almost 4 months now. Ford has a problem with replacement parts. They could just pull one from the production line. Ordered my truck in Oct 2021. Got it in May 2023. Drove it for 2 months.
