I just got a used 2023 Maverick and I want to play the music from my CD's. Does anyone know how to put the music on Thumb Drives and will they play by plugging them into the USB ports on the truck? Or is the USB only a power source? Will my home computer transfer CD music to Thumb Drives, it has a CD slot and empty USB ports. Any additional details/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

USB sticks will work, but most people have had less than satisfactory results using them. Do a search, or just scroll down to the bottom of this thread for more posts about the issues.

If you want to play the music you have on CDs in your truck, the best way is probably to rip them on your computer to mp3 or some other format and then copy them to your phone. Then use the player in the phone to play the music through your truck.

I just read somewhere that now, just connecting your phone to your car is allowing anything on your phone to be accessed by possibly unscrupulous people. Don't know how true or what kind of risk this is. Good use for old sanitized phone. I guess.

I use a SanDisk Sportgo MP3 player through USB in mine, works perfectly, the display brings everything up on screen and its pretty user friendly.

You can use iTunes, even if you have an android.

Anyone know what the maximum capacity usb stick it can use? You can get low profile ones that barely stick out of the usb port and just leave it in there all the time.

Just using a mobile phone, tablet, or laptop / desktop computer is a risk.

This thread is becoming very typical of any tech question. The OP asks what appears to be a very simple, not exactly high tech, question. And so it begins with answers which to "normal" people are more and more complex. OP asks for a drink of water, and someone opens up the fire hydrant. ;)

Not true at least with iPhone. CarPlay is just an extension of your phones sandbox to the infotainment screen. No data from CarPlay is collected by the car and sent to anyone

I use this for my music, SanDisk 128GB Ultra Fit USB 3.1 Flash Drive. I got it for $13.50, but Amazon now has it for $11.79. I've got almost 3,000 songs on it, and it's barely used. I've had no problems with it, and find it's the best way to play my music. I haven't ripped anything from a CD for quite a while now, but I think I used Media Player to do so. Like AF Blue, I've also used VLC Media player for ripping CDs. It works good too.

I just use iTunes and copy them to a thumb drive. Then when you want to play them choose media and the thumb drive as source.
