I got my 2022 XL hybrid back from a oil change and crawled under to make sure everything was buttoned up. I found oil dripping from the timing chain side of the motor, towards the top and down the block and onto the pan bolts — also on one of the wiring harnesses. Hard to believe it’s oil sweat from the weather since it’s covering one of the wiring harnesses. Anyone have experience with this? I have an appointment with a dealer in two weeks to check it out. Doesn’t look like the valve cover gasket, maybe head gasket? Hard to tell without removing the passenger side wheel and belly pan.

i’m at 16,000 miles, all recalls up-to-date except for the airbag recall.

It condensation on the pan and around it. Basically oil on any gaskets can make that condensation oily. But oil on the gasket could mean there a small seepage somewhere, which could lead to a leak later on.

Right after an oil change, I'd bet there is nothing wrong. The moron filling the engine back up spilled some and that's what you see.
No, I checked. No evidence of that at all. You can tell the oil has been on that sensor for a while too.

'Oil sweat' is some condition you've made up.

You stated you 'found oil dripping from the timing chain side of the motor"

Jesus Christ. Oil sweat is real and yes I’ve stated that I’ve found oil dripping on the side.
Negative.

And if so, you found evidence of condensation/water dripping, not oil dripping......

No need to become emotional. ;)

The oil that looks like it's been there for a while could possibly be from another oil change spill. It should be very easy to see if you're actually dripping though, if you're leaving spots everywhere you park, you're definitely leaking, unless it's just the remainder of whatever was spilled. I'd clean the area that you believe has been leaking/leaked on for a while, and check after your next fill up.

If it is leaking, you absolutely will be leaving spots everywhere you park. Good luck dude, and hopefully it's just sloppy oil changes.

Sweaty oil. Must be the humidity 😁 Spray the area down with some brake clean and keep an eye on it. May be a poor cleanup by the mechanic. It will reappear if there is a leak. Nice and shiny, as Rainman Ray says……

It sounds like oil spill?? If you have any concerns take back to the place you had the oil changed. If a dealership performed the oil change get their input.

condensation does not form on an oil pan for a variety of reasons, the first of which is that it is not cooler than ambient air.

sweat comes out of porous material, and the pan and other components are not porous.

any time you think you've seen an oily condensate on an oil pan, it's absolutely either a previous spill or it is actively leaking. it's not sweating.

New tech spill oil when filling up maybe?

Mine seems to have the same issue.
68,000 miles.
Noticed it on the previous oil change at 60,000.

Next change was at 67,000(try to do every 5000) and it was still there.

Dropping it off on Nov 9th, 2023 for service.
Bought the dealer offered 120,000 mile warranty. We'll see how it goes!

Here is a clip while I was under the car doing the oil change.
