The advantage comes when you have small children/grandchildren in the vehicle and inadvertently lock the keys/fob inside with the child. Turns an oh shit moment into a I got this moment
I stopped at a hotdog 🌭 truck with my dog in the truck and left it running, few seconds later I heard the truck lock, talk about a oh shit moment, phone in the vehicle and don't remember the code for the key pad I set a year ago, fortunately my dog likes the window open and was able to get the door open. Why do doors lock with vehicle running?? I reset my code with something I won't forget.

In general, I think the de-contented MY24 Mavs are going to end up being the worst model year.

Most expensive, less standard and optional equipment, last year before MY25 refresh where the price may climb by a small amount but interior or other parts may take a huge leap forward.

Time will tell.
I agree with you except I don't think the MY25 will have a "huge leap forward"

One note that may matter to some.

The $230 is molded in color, so it will match your paint.

The $120 Keypad is black.
My dealer told me the opposite about MIC, “MIC stands for “molded in color” which means it is the factory color of the product (black) and will not match the color of your truck.” They also said it was the same battery keypad from the parts store.

Are there any other benefits to the higher priced version keypad other than matching colors?
Yes.

On the 2022+ while you can peel and stick a keypad on yourself YOU CAN NOT PROGRAM one by yourself. It needs some fancy computer / software with military grade 128-bit encryption or something (so I've heard). Akin to why you can't (easily) add extra keys yourself.

This is why it is a dealer installed option.
You don't have the dealer's computer software (I don't think).

Thanks all for the education. Always good to hear what others find valuable. I might even try it sometime:).

Well the dealer says he cannot remove it or lower the price. Said it was part of the factory build sheet and can't be changed since it's now scheduled for production. So I guess I'll just let it ride and see how useful it is.
You're going to be happy.
Read above. I don't think you can add it yourself later.

honestly i see a LOT of folks really like this keypad. I must be a little slow on this passion and understanding the value. if you can unlock the door with the key fob or your phone it seems to be limited value. Maybe you can lock keys and phone in car if going to the beach or other place you wouldn't want to take your keys and phone?
I think that’s the point. When you don’t want to, or can’t carry your keys or phone.

My keychain has a million keys.
(Okay, 20)
But it's heavy and I don't leave it in my pockets. And using the carabiner on a belt loop, it jingles too much.

More than once I have gone out to my locked Mav, both at work and at home without the physical keys. So nice to get in with the keypad. Also you can give the code to friends and family. If you want. Like "hey, if I'm not home, put those books you are loaning me in my truck".

Also if your vehicle goes into powersave the keypad will work to unlock whereas touching the door won't....

MIC (Molded in Color) is the same color as Bronco MIC tops. The color is similar to Carbonized Grey or a little darker.

It will not match the paint.

I am super happy to hear that you like it because I just wasn’t sure at first. I am happy that some day I may receive a 2023 CLT LUX with the key pad.

That is what I was thinking. It would be nice to lockup phone and keys in the car then head out for any water sports or trips to the waterpark if you don't want to pay for lockers. I get tired of lugging around a smart phone when fun is on the agenda.
Thieves probably love looking for Fords with keypads to break into because people somehow think leaving keys in a locked car makes them safe.

Without a tonneau cover, inside the bed wall would work?

Mounted to the base of the rear window, where it meets the bed wall, would be inconspicuous, especially if there's a tonneau installed.

Nobody would think of looking on the passenger side of the vehicle?

Other places that come to mind, if you don't mind getting down on the ground, there's the side of the 'frame' rail under the bed, or somewhere else under there, near the back of the vehicle. - It might get covered in debri from the wheels however.

That's about the only flat areas I can think of off hand.
Why are we trying to hide this? Mines on the door, same as other Fords I’ve had, nice and convenient. Wish all my vehicles had this option.
