I think it’s so someone can get into your truck, who knows the code, when they don’t have the key.I ordered my new XLT Eruption Green with the keypad and the dealer didn't install it so I have to make an appointment to have it done. The salesman said there'd be no charge because it was his error but that remains to be seen.
As for the keypad; I assume it's to allow you to leave the keys in the vehicle but if that's my naive assumption, wouldn't a would-be thief think the same and break the window knowing the keys are in it?
