I have both. A 23 XL Hybrid with no options and 22 XLT 4K LUX etc, etc. I wish I had LUX on the XL for heated seats and steering wheel now that I've had the XLT over the winter. Like the power seat and lumbar in the XLT. Like the more subdued XL interior colors.

Only reason we went with the XLT was that the wife won't drive a car without cruise control, even though we rarely (if ever) use it. Doubt we've used it yet in 16 months and 9k miles of driving. If we were buying today, it would be an XL.

FWIW, another driver here who lives in an area with 6+ months of snow a year who doesn't care about heated seats or steering wheel (we have them on our other car and never use them). Just another added expense and something else to break, that we never use.

When I ordered in October 2021, the XL did not come with cruise control. Because of this I went with the XLT. While I was at it I added the lux package because, why not. If I knew when I got bumped to a 2023 model that the XL would come with cruise control, I would have gotten the XL. The lux package is nice but I could do without it if I had to. Also, I kind of like the steelies. Makes the truck look more robust.

My XLT hybrid is scheduled for a November 6th build date . Can we change the order to a XL ?
No unfortunately not. You would have to make a new order.

The only real option I saw that could have been of value were the power mirrors that you can't get on the XL. Then I remembered my prior truck had them and the only time it was ever of any real use was the 5 or so times over the 20 year period I had it to adjust the passenger mirror. Useful yes but not 3k more useful to trade up a trim level to get them. Cruise control at the time was also a consideration but figured aftermarket would step up with something a lot cheaper than a 3k trim upgrade.
I wanted the power mirrors, but they come on the CP360 package on the XL. I was ordering CP360 anyway.

** I did find a thread that was very close to this post that answered a bit so thanks in advance for anyone who reads but I will always appreciate ideas of you still want to give them!!**

I've read and understand the differences between an XL versus XLT, but I am curious with there's anyone here who regrets getting an XL? I currently have an XLT on order but after some interesting conversations at home there are some things I wanted to add but since I'm already scheduled I couldn't. So I've been looking at placing a second order but choosing an XL this time because the only things I really need are the 4K towing and the co-pilot. I'm not thrilled about how small the color choice became but the savings per month makes up for it. I think the loss of some other stuff seems worth it. Sure power locking tailgate would be nice but I don't know if I require it. And there's no more secure lock keypad so I'm not really missing that. A back seat drink holder isn't really something that I've ever needed before. I think the only thing that stood out is the XLT gets a perimeter alarm? And then the only other thing is that I would definitely want to change out the rims at some point, but I don't mind the steelies for now. I guess most of my question is about the interior at this point. I used to not like the black seats but they've kind of grown on me with the atlas blue exterior. But is there anything else that seems different or might be missing? Any thoughts or advice anyone has would be appreciated. Thank you!
The only reason I bought an XLT instead of an XL is cruise control. I commute 2 hours a day and really cannot live without cruise. It is coincidentally very good for MPG. Since I was paying the $5K for a $100 option anyway, I added the CoPilot360 which I think was worth the money.

I’ve had a ‘23 XL for 4 mos w/4k tow and 360 pilotand the only thing I’m wishing I had is heated mirrors because on foggy mornings it’s a pain to have to wipe them off and 5 min later they’re fogged. Not sure if XLT includes that feature. At least I’m in FL where I won’t have to scrape ice off.

I thought like you when the mav first came out. 4k towing for low 20 grand.but when I ordered my 23,no cruise was a deal breaker,so I got the XLT. My dealer mentioned lux pkg,my first thought,I don't need any of that.since the truck was for my wife, she talked me into it.glad we got it.and for me at 64 years old,so what it came in at almost 32 grand, the extra features are well worth it to us.

I considered a XL over the XLT in 2023, as there was little for the extra money. The biggest reason for the extra bucks was the mag wheels over the utility vehicle commercial steel wheels. The "factory" mags on the XLT must of been picked out by a goth teenage girl.

My Modus Operendi was to select some wheels from known great deals RackTire.com types. and remove the steel wheels. Depending on the delivery tires, I may or may not of used them. I may have gone to a larger diameter wheel and a lower tire ratio if new tires were decided. Then in either case taken one of the steel wheels and made it into a full size spare.. with a good used tire... enough to get you home, kind of thing.

Anyhow anything is better than those XLT mag wheels.

All though I no longer live in the North east. The 4 steel wheel could of been outfitted with snow tires for that middle December to middle of March slick driving season.

Everything else I need is on the XL- cruise, door locks, a radio, and so on.

On my current 22 year old pickup, I bought new, I had X-line do the bed at 7 miles and it looks great still.. I don;t need the rear slider- it's only large enough to pass a beer to the people in the bed, and that's frowned upon here in Kansas. Don't like a moon roof. I have one on my 13 year old car and never use it, or the car except for long trips, business, funerals and weddings. It would of made a great trade towards the Maverick as blue book trade in was still $12K and I'd probably get more in a private sale as being one owner.

I don't need the 4K tow package or anything HD, because my 22 year old truck will tow a back hoe. I'll be buried in that. I just don't need it to go to the barber shop or grocery store. I need that to pull a stock trailer and getting 5 sheets of 4x8 plywood or a pallet of landscaping bricks.
Then the Maverick would of taken me to the end. The car I have, sits way too low.. Maverick much higher and right at my liking. The Maverick is an economy car with an open trunk and not built in Asia.

Too bad FORD screwed up the ECO-Hybrid engine option for 2024.. I'm from Detroit, I'm not paying $10K over MSRP either--- for a overloaded Maverick the dealer has on his lot.
Or $1500 dock fee.. What bull crap..

2 reasons I'm not ordering. #1. UAW is on strike. #2. Jimmy Buffet is predicting a huge down turn 3rd quarter this year. I don't think I'm paranoid, I think I'll wait.. Besides the Dodge in Brazil is coming they claim and it's a diesel..

I have a 22 XL, and wanted the remote locking tailgate. All I had to do was replace the
XL wiring harness NZ6T-14B562 with the XLT equivalent. This was a very easy switch, just required
lowering the spare tire, and taking the back panel off the tailgate, then swapping the harness.
The parts person at any Ford dealership can help you get the correct part # and part.

Gotta admit some of your arguments have me thinking I probably should have ordered an XL. I also "fell" for the cruise control option and I do like the black XLT wheels. Oh well, I have a scheduled build date so I will deal with it.

EDIT: I had to look again at the various options to remember exactly why I went with the XLT. The XLT has the FX4 package option that apparently is not available on the XL, and I wanted that.

And how will you feel about your choice at age 70? I think you'll be glad you upsold yourself to an XLT Lux. Measure twice, cut once.

Love my 2022 XL hybrid. I did add the CP360 as the only real factory upgrade. Looking back, cruise control would have been nice, if available. I see several owners have modified their Maverick with other Ford steering wheels to get cruise control. I wonder if the 2023/2024 steering wheels would drop into place on the 2022.

Never had a lot of bells and whistles in any other vehicle so I don't miss the "fancy stuff".

I actually think Ford did alright with the packaging of the XL, XLT, and Lariat because it gives folks a place to land comfortably based on what they want.

For a long time I was firmly in the XL camp for my Hybrid that never came but that changed when they disallowed the moonroof on the XL in 23 - then they told me to switch to EB.

I do not like the standard XLT interior so I would have likely stayed down in the XL but I sprang for the Tremor.

I find XLT + Lux to be an incredible value (at least for MY23) for the options that you get with it. I paid $31k for my truck and couldn't be happier. I enjoy the comforts it came with and don't want for the ones it doesn't have (I did add Lane Keep Assist via Forscan).

I hope everyone feels that way about their respective Mavs when they arrive.

Thanks, everyone! We decided to stick with the XLT for now since it's already got a scheduled date but might wait to see what the 2025 model brings to the table. I am pretty sure I would have been fine with almost all of the XL items, and if I hadn't already ordered I probably would have gone that route. If the 2025 model brings some colors back and maybe an interior refresh I'll trade up!
