Yeah, I believe you.

The part finally came in, and my Maverick is back at the dealership today, *hopefully* to get repaired under warranty. I'll keep you all updated!
Anxiously waiting on the update. Hope it goes well. Please, if possible, post part numbers replaced during the repair.

I would have to argue if fluid film could penetrate the sensor or connector, so could salt water. It should be weather tight which would include Fluid Film tight. It would have failed anyways if it had a bad seal.
the coating probably got into the pressure sensor vent hole. If the vent hole is plugged the sensor won't be correctly detecting pressure in the tank.

Good news! Ford fixed the issue under warranty and I'm on my way with no check engine light.

Big thank you to Best Ford of Amherst for taking care of me! Attached is the dealer write-up on everything they did, looks like they replaced "NZ6Z 9D333 A Hose" and the "FTPS EVAP System."

Just got a P0451 at nearly identical mileage to yours. I sprayed mine with Fluid Film but can’t imagine I got so much on there that it failed, I also did it back in November. Attempting to make an appointment with a dealer to get it taken care of, really glad to see they took care of it under warranty for you!

Interesting! Good luck, and feel free to use my paperwork as an example if they give you any trouble. :-D Let us know how it goes. I wonder if the sensor has a habit of failing at about a year.

Thanks! What’s weird is I was able to get the light to stay off for a few days and the EVAP monitors to run and pass but then it came back on.

Just had my truck into the dealer today and they diagnosed it as the “purge flow assembly”. Covered under warranty, ordered the part, will take it in to get replaced. No hassle, hopefully that is the fix.

Hi JordMord! I looked into this on the forum and saw a few other people with similar problems. This gentleman took his 2.0L to the dealer and had this to say:
The ford account here ended up purchasing me enough oil changes to last the rest of my loan and a yeti maverick bottle. This posters issue will be covered, it’s happening a lot my dealer says…I was there last week and they’ve seen more for these issues since mine.

the coating probably got into the pressure sensor vent hole. If the vent hole is plugged the sensor won't be correctly detecting pressure in the tank.
If that is the case, then one can rest assured that road salt and brine will work its way into that very same vent hole. Probably easier.

Every vehicle I have owned in the past 20 years has thrown that code at one time or another. The issue seems to be getting worse as Uncle Sugar continues more and more mandates on vehicles as part of their Climate Conformity Programs.

So after the purge valve did not fix my truck (shocker…apparently they fired the parts cannon at it), they ordered me a charcoal canister and a fuel tank pressure sensor which should fix it. However the sensor is on back order…hoping this doesn’t drag out forever!

Hi Jord! I’m currently experiencing the exact same issue with my Maverick, but I’m having no luck with my dealer. Did you have a third party warranty or was this covered under the factory warranty?

Chris,

Nope, just the factory warranty. It's really at the dealer's discretion how to interpret the warranty, and I was fortunate enough to get good customer service + made it clear I would make noise if they didn't honor the warranty. I also messaged the Ford official account on here and gave them my dealer's info and asked for assistance, and I think they helped.

Ford trucks have a reputation for rusting early (justified or unjustified, it's just what people think). Because of this, most people in the north east (hey, PA!) who buy Ford Trucks reassure themselves with some sort of undercoating. If Ford claims this undercoating voids the warranty, then Ford will have a tough time making sales in the North East where snow/salt are believed to degrade Ford underbodies prematurely. This will be especially true if it's widely shared on the internet that underbody coatings "void" the warranty. Ford does not want to deal with this sort of online publicity and can be motivated to honor their warranty accordingly. Use this leverage to get them to do the right thing . . .

Good luck!

Jord, Thank you for your response - it is very much appreciated! I’m working with Ford now, so hopefully I have the same outcome as you.

Were you able to get this resolved? I am going on 2 months now waiting in the FTPS. I fear CEL burn-in on my dash panel. I am tired of seeing the amber glow already.
