After what I thought was 7,718 trouble free miles - my EB has experienced the dreaded EVAP system service engine soon warning.

Interesting enough if you look at the Forscan log for code P0496 it states that the malfunction indicator lamp (check engine light) is off for that specific code, and that it actually started occurring after 7,703 miles - so the Maverick let me drive with a DTC for high EVAP purge flow and let me keep driving, no check engine light or FordPass warning.

P0451 is what actually triggered the FordPass warning and service engine soon light.

This is a fairly known issue with Ford engines - a once reliable part (the EVAP purge valve and cannister) was made exponentially less reliable to save a few pennies.

Appointment scheduled for Friday at 11a with the local Ford dealer (Chapman Ford - Marysville). Thankfully I'll take advantage of my recently purchased PremiumCare warranty and get a rental car for up to 10 days for only $100.

Hopefully this does not become a trend for my Tremor!

I had the same codes. Waited several months for the back ordered parts to come in… the truck drove seemingly normal, but I had it parked for most of that time. I’m not comfortable driving a vehicle much with the cel on, but that’s just me.

@710-oil-614 sorry to hear this. Hopefully it's a one off issue. I'm glad you were able to get an appt relatively quickly.

@generalmgr - I don't have a lot of hope that the parts will arrive quickly but at the very least I will enact my PremiumCare warranty ($100) and get a rental for 10 days.

I too, do not like driving a vehicle with the CEL on.

@MM Mav - Like (Family Guy) Spiderman says, "Everybody gets one!". Love my Maverick, and things happen. I think the local dealer will do all they can to get it rectified quickly.

Chapman Ford (Marysville, OH) quickly confirmed it is the EVAP Purge Valve, unfortunately they did not have the part in stock but they are getting it overnighted and I have an appointment scheduled on Monday at 2p to have it replaced, probably take about a half hour to swap out.

They are also honoring my request to not have the hyperflash turn signal recall performed as it will mess with my added TSR and lane keep assist.

So from the time the check engine light came on to when I'll have it replaced under warranty by Ford will happen in less than 5 full days, and the dealership has offered to pick up and drop off my Maverick for today and on Monday (however I declined).

I don't like that the purge valve went out at 7,800 miles but you really can't ask for a better response from a local dealer.
