How do you like the sound after the install?I got a set of open box pioneer TSG650 6.75" speakers for $35 from best buy. Determined to make them fit I removed my speaker and grabbed my razor blade, Dykes, soldering iron, and 8 screws
Step 1 cut the speaker

Step 2 snip the wires

Step 3 chop all the plastic towers
![]()
Step 4, line up the speaker and notch a few slots with a Dremel (definitely don't use a soldering iron it's stinky and bad for you and the iron)
![]()
Step 5 screw it into the plastic, do not use screws that are too deep or you may scratch your tint or damage other things in the door
![]()
Step 6, solder your new speaker wires to the factory connector for that slick install and factory fit and finish
![]()
Final result retains factory door connector and any mess is hidden behind the door panel. These are a mild upgrade over the stock paper garbage they left in my doors when I bought it.

Zero change to outside aesthetic

Thank you for coming to my Ted talk on how to recycle paper speakers into something useful for the world

For $35 its better than factory, I need to do research and see if there's an equalizer that is worth throwing in my glovebox, funny how we've come full circle. I can't believe I'm considering adding a physical EQ board to a 2022 vehicle it's like a device of the 90's but I haven't seen any successful head unit installs yetHow do you like the sound after the install?
Ha! Glad someone else noticed.Interesting, and the OP calls that tool Dykes. Gotta be an old timer or someone in the trade.![]()

We found the comedian! What’s wrong with the factory speakers? Great range, great bass. No flutter.
I like this idea but they have so much depth to them, I probably could have glued a few pieces together but this was 30 min of my time and if the first one didn't work I was just gonna order the crutchfield drop in replacementsI usually just custom cut MDF rings to make them when I was younger.
I am saving up for a 400mm by 400mm so I have almost 1sqft to play with. I'll make the trip to microcenter soon, can't help but love the factory pigtail works, any ford tech knows how it operatesWow, just wow… lol
You need to ask Santa Clause for a 3D printer for Christmas!
I did it the free wayWhy not just unscrew the old ones and screw in the new ones using the mounting ring? I mean, you can buy the adapter so you don't have to solder...
Seems like you did it the hard way.
