I got a set of open box pioneer TSG650 6.75" speakers for $35 from best buy. Determined to make them fit I removed my speaker and grabbed my razor blade, Dykes, soldering iron, and 8 screws
Step 1 cut the speaker
Step 2 snip the wires
Step 3 chop all the plastic towers
Step 4, line up the speaker and notch a few slots with a Dremel (definitely don't use a soldering iron it's stinky and bad for you and the iron
)
Step 5 screw it into the plastic, do not use screws that are too deep or you may scratch your tint or damage other things in the door
Step 6, solder your new speaker wires to the factory connector for that slick install and factory fit and finish
Final result retains factory door connector and any mess is hidden behind the door panel. These are a mild upgrade over the stock paper garbage they left in my doors when I bought it.
Zero change to outside aesthetic
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk on how to recycle paper speakers into something useful for the world
