Driving 80 heading to Southern Utah, got the error message tool wrench on the dash and then power was cut- Not super awesome but luckily I was close to an exit, pulled off to turn off the engine and let it sit for a bit.

Turned back on without an error and finished the rest of the 4 hour drive without incident- Vehicle did not overheat- Anyone else had this random message and what could be done to avoid this in the future ? Going to see if my dealer can get more info on the specific error.

Probably nothing you did to cause it, meaning nothing you can do to avoid it. Probably a random error in the immensely complex engine/drive train monitoring system, or something is marginal and will probably happen again and require a repair. Your dealer should be able to pull a stored code.

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.

Coincidentally enough this occurred to me last week on 80 just outside of Elko.
Service engine soon light came on followed immediately by Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power.
The engine governed itself down, we pulled over and turned it off. Waited 10 minutes and it started back up without the warning and continued on.
Called our service department and they convinced me to swing through Gallagher Ford in Elko so they could have a look. They were kind enough to stop what they were doin and troubleshoot. 3.5hrs later they determined it was the wastegate solenoid but they didn’t have one in stock to replace it.
We made it back to Utah and brought to our local service department. They tried replicating the code over the weekend but it didn’t happen.
They wont replace the waste gate solenoid now because they claim Ford wants to see the code twice before they’ll fix it. Basically they said I needo be stranded on the side of the road again before they can do anything.
Is this really the way they operate?
Or do I need to pushback?

**The code originally popped up toward the end of a 6 day 2200 mile road trip.

Yep I've had it as well on both my previous Escape and the current Maverick. Apparently and update fixed it on the Maverick but they had to replace an entire module on the Escape. Like you said, it's a miscommunication at start up and can be managed by just restarting. I found it happened more often in cold climates on cold starts. I have also started, rolled forward a bit then back, shut off and restart to solve it too. FORD's service here will likely just confirm your VIN and ask you a bunch of info like your name and address so they can put it in their system and track you then refer you to your local dealer once they have that info. It's a TSB so your services dept. should be able to schedule you for the fix. It's really nothing to worry about but should be addressed when you can get scheduled.

Does this reduced power error only happen in the Mountain/West ? LOL - Will check in with the local Ford Shop foreman and see if he has heard anything about this error and or finicky solenoids -

Yes, I currently have my 2022 fx4, xlt 2.0 l turbo at the dealer now with a similar happening on I90 south, travelling 65mph and dropping to 20mph without warning. Not for the faint of heart. The only thing I can think of is ,I had just had the taillight recall performed and I had the start/stop switch deactivated. I have 11747 miles and love the truck, but 65mph to 20mph on I90 is an unforgiveable sin. The ball is in Fords court.

In my situation I was able to exit without dying - Went right to the gas station parking lot, turned the truck off. Waited a couple minutes, restarted and the truck was fine. It's been almost a year since that episode and it's not returned thankfully.

- Being told the defective Turbo/By-Pass Valve is actually the culprit of the low boost warning but also the powertrain malfunction/Reduced power/Fault - Hoping this is the case and just replacing the valve solves the terrifying forced power reduction -

It's dangerous if you're driving on the freeway with the flow of traffic. And it's dangerous if you get stranded in a bad part of town.

All of the above. I was doing 80 (Utah Speed Limit) and was instantly dropped to 55 - Unreal level of BS -

Yea it's just dangerous period. Not something you want to see in a new(er) vehicle either.

Hi There, was the issue resolved? I just got the powertrain error message yesterday. Went away after I turned the car off.
