Ford ESP from Granger and Flood?

With today’s vehicles it’s a crapshoot. If you have a major failure, infotainment screen, turbo, transmission, or something expensive. The ESP is the way to go. I needed two turbos on my F-150 EcoBoost. Covered under ESP, probably $3000+. I will get the ESP from Granger when the Mav is delivered in a month or so. I’m not the type that usually buys extended warranties

Neither am I. This forum is the first I've seen what I would consider "reasonable insurance prices" for the years you'd be covered. Trying to convert me... I did buy used though and already at 12k. If I was going to do it, it would need to cover beyond 100k to be worth it for me. I'm still on the fence about breaking my moral code for these things especially since I have not kept any new vehicle longer than a couple years over the past 6 years.

Tbh, FORD and majority of other brands have a pretty shhtty warranty for today's vehicles. It's a slap in the face to spend any amount on a vehicle and have them only cover it for a couple years. Depreciating asset or not, the reliability is questionable across the board and FORDs history doesn't instill confidence in a lot of people. Most people are already stretched beyond their limits trying to get something reliable and save at the pump etc etc. So adding thousands to the cost thus increasing said monthly payment at already high interest rates, another slap in the face. Our society relies heavily on POV transportation. These manufacturers need to start delivering on covering their products better. 10yr/100k(more?) drivetrain should be a federal mandate at minimum, as much as it pains me to have federal involvement. But the amount we have paid for certain companies bailouts and will continue to do in the future when it happens again... Just saying... We deserve better. /Rant

Ford has had any bailouts, just very large fair interest(for dollar volume) loans.

Aside from that our ESP from Granger was only like $1300 or maybe $1800 (cant remember) for 8 years and I think 100,000 miles. Thats a pretty fair deal and we wont hit that mileage in that time. Not enough miles on the island.

I work at my local Ford dealer as a transit driver. When I took delivery this past January for my '23 Hybrid Lariat, I wanted an ESP because I planned on keeping it for quite a while. I researched this forum and found the info about Flood and Granger. When I priced them, Granger was cheaper at the time. As an employee, my dealer claimed to sell us an ESP at $250 over cost. When I showed them Granger's price, they told me Granger was selling under cost and they couldn't match. So I declined, purchased my truck, then went online and bought from Granger. I saved over $500 but don't remember exactly how much. Within 2-3 business days, ESP showed up under my account with Ford Pass. I actually called Granger and talked to a person who sold the ESP's. The lady claimed they didn't sell under cost, but only $50 over cost and pushed volume.

My truck was in the shop for almost a month for a recall waiting on parts. The ESP paid for my rental the entire time. Worth it just for that.

I would look at their inv.entory. They sell other makes. Other makes extended warranty im not so sure though.

I never would even have considered an ESP 'out of principle' but the education around Flood and Granger's offer is absolutely having me re-consider. Add in the fact that you can use Ford Pass Points to apply to the purchase makes the cost even more reasonable.

Floodford is about the best price you'll find for a real Ford ESP. I plan on getting one soon since I intend to drive this truck until the wheels fall off. I also will pay extra to get the headlight coverage. The saying insurance is only expensive until you use it applies here if one plans to run the truck over 100k before getting a replacement vehicle. Cracked exhaust manifold, intercooler or power transfer unit on an AWD going at 100k almost pays for the insurance for any one of those repairs.

I’ve had shocks/struts go bad around 60k several times. Only 5 oil changes? How often will they let you get one?
if it’s just a service plan, one set of shocks and a brake job is far more than $1720. Parts and labor.

I do my own brakes and oil...I don't trust others to do it right after several issues years ago. However on my Maverick I did buy an 8 year 100K Basecare warranty. I owned several Fords and the electronics were not an issue...it was the mechanical moving parts!! Things like wheel bearings, transaxles, transmissions and driveshafts tend to fail on Fords before 100K...so just get the Basecare for 100K and go with $0 deductible...have then remove key service and the provided car and the other add ons since you don't need them if you already have several cars to use...that just increases the base price of the warranty. I doubt my Maverick will make 100K without some type of mechanical failure. It just doesn't seem to be that well built...and I am comparing it to the 2.0L Escape which bascially has the same power train...so the Maverick will probably have the same failures. I learned my lesson on Fords...if yours makes it to 100K without a drivetrain component failure then yours is the exception. ESP Basecare is like 1200-1300 for 8 year 100K

Agree completely. I was offered 6 yr/75k Premium care from Chapman for $1399 and rejected it quickly.

After reading about Flood/Granger offers on this forum, I reconsidered and got a quote from them. Just purchased a 10yr/100k Premium ($200 deductible) contract from Flood for $1495. After deducting $210 using my Ford Pass Points from buying the Mav, it cost $1285 for 10 years/100k miles of bumper to bumper protection!

Another benefit of Ford ESP is that it’s generally cancelable for a prorated refund if you choose to sell the vehicle, etc..

I go with this because it's easily several hundred dollars to replace the OEM LED or HID lights if they fail.
