I'm seeing Maverick add pop ups today. I never saw that much before today. And the order banks are still open.
Of course no maverick for me. My dealer must not have allocations. I can't get a straight answer from the sales guy.
So my question to FORD is;
I ordered a Maverick last Sept. crickets so far. What if a dealer has no allocations. Does that mean no maverick? Maybe that's why some folks have been waiting for over a year. Bad system; to get a truck you have to research to find a dealer who has allocations. WTF!

The $19,950 entry point and "40 mpg" was what attracted the attention initially. Most folks found they had to move up to the XLT to get the equipment they needed (in our case cruise control). Our first XLT was $25K, the 2023 $27K, and the 2024 we just ordered over $30K--all the same equipment although the 2024 loses the rear window and the keypad lock. So for 20% more money you get less. Still a great vehicle if you're looking for a small truck. That was my point--in the past it was such a smokin' deal you bought it even if you didn't need it. That ship has sailed. The only "great value" still left is the XL Ecoboost 4x4--still a bargain.

Ford is using these significant price increases and mandatory option bundles to raise their average selling price on Maverick to restrict demand in to line with their ability to produce. Congratulations to Ford--looks like they've succeeded, largely eliminating the bargain that was the Maverick.

In summer 2021 we were not even in the market for a new car of any kind, but like... What? $19,950?? For a truck? Anyone employed is in the market for that! It turned out to be a great vehicle, far exceeding expectations--we love our Mav. Everyone that sees it or drives it loves it. We avg. around 45mpg. Such a no brainer--we ordered a 2nd one (2023) which just arrived. But in the end the low price point was the driver that's now been largely eliminated. At $30K+ there are other economical options for new cars especially considering many state and federal incentives for EVs that blatantly discriminate against Hybrids--a much more sensible choice for the masses.
Sounds like you weren't looking for a truck to begin with if you think there are more economical equivalents. What truck is out there getting 40 mpg for $25,000 - $30,000?

PHEV can handle many peoples needs with no gas usage each day and the few times they go long distances they have a gas engine to get them to their destination without hoping to find a charger. That's why they are included in the rebate program. Or me I could go 51 weeks a year without using any gas.

For cars that don't have heavy demand allocations work fine. For high demand it makes sure all dealers have a chance for a few. But sales get rewarded so more allocations.

I think people are getting an education on how a market driven economy works.
Actually Ford is. They squandered two years of incredible opportunity with poor planning, horrible execution and God awful customer relations. Now they want to cash in.

I have no doubt they will to a certain extent but the windfall will be nothing like it could have been had Ford planned to/wanted to produce 500,000 Mavericks a year from the get-go.

At the MY24 prices, and given the fact that no one will see a 24 until 2024, most potential customers will now shop the competition much more seriously than they may have in 22 or 23 when the Maverick presented such an obvious and compelling value.

As I said in my post, we were not even in the market for a car, let alone a truck. Flash forward, it's a different landscape. Today in CA right now you can buy a Tesla Model 3 off of their website go drive over to the Fremont plant and pick it up for only $22K-$27K (after the $7500 fed rebate and the additional $2500-$7500 CA rebate depending on which you qualify for.) Not a truck--but that's the type of no-brainer I'm talking about.

Gotta love competition (and <sadly> the government tipping the scales)

I certainly feel not having a base Lariat is going to lower demand on the Lariat. There is a BIG difference in price between my MY 23 Lariat hybrid and the MY 24 Lariat hybrid.
MY 2024 Lariat becomes a 40K Truck! That brings in a lot of competition including some nice Hybrid SUV's in premium trims...

If you use an inflation calculator for 2021 (The maverick went on sale in 2021) $19,950 in 2023 is $22,463. So Ford is certainly not just factoring in inflation into the price.
They had very low margin on the first couple of years by giving away the hybrid system for free. Now it is actually priced nearer what it costs. The mistake they made is not using the true cost from the beginning. Dealers hate ordering them because there isn't much profit in Mavericks.

I was at Galpin at 7:30am on Monday waiting for the sales department to open so I could put in my order. I had been in contact with them for four months prior.

I still have no order information from them but they tell me they're on top of it.

I specifically drove to Galpin from OC because Galpin should have the largest allocation in the country and they told me they should have plenty of space for my lariat tremor (XLs were hotter)
@MatthewPK did you ever get that order confirmation yet? I'm in the I.E. but have been working with Galpin for my Ecoboost XL order since my company works with them. I still have not received an order confirmation email yet. Communication was great up until Monday. Now they keep telling me their inventory manager will get the order in "hopefully by the end of this week".

It will be interesting to see how this year shakes out for the mav. Initial sales were no doubt fueled by pent up demand, novelty and hype.

Ford put out a decent product that filled a niche. Since then we may be seeing that the pent up demand has been filled. Also the stories of how hard it is to get one probably puts people off.

How many people are left really willing to pay a huge markup to buy off the lot? How many people are left willing to wait the better part of a year or even more to get one?

A lot of the people who haven't already bought one might be sitting back to wait and see what else comes to market.

We would not know about the demand until order bank closing is announced. I am quite certain that Maverick is still selling like a hot cake. If I am in a market for a subcompact car like a Corolla ($21,700), I would just go for a truck $23,400 (bigger, more power, with truck bed). All prices are before destination. I like Ford AC, it can start cool down the cabin within 5 minutes when outside temperature is above 100F and inside car temperature is pushing 110F.

No.

This is what they sent me, but he's been very responsive to my texts.

Asking a dealership how many allocations they have. It's like asking someone how much money they make in a year. They're going to lie to you. They're either going to brag about it or they're going to underplay it. Why would anyone tell the truth about that? There's no reason to. It's just a dealer's lips moving.
