My main sales rep at my local Ford dealership told me that she’s only had 7 orders so far. Last year they 60 in the same time period. This is the entire dealership, 7 orders. I know it’s antidotal but that’s pretty shocking. What are you all seeing?

I may have been right…Only the official numbers will tell though.

raising the price, not improving the vehicle (heck if anything making it worse) and not making people's trucks that were ordered a long time ago adds up to some pretty frustrated people that are going to move onto something else.

My 23 XLT Hybrid just arrived and I now plan to sell it. I've had my Corolla Hybrid for a few months (after waiting 5 months for it to be built) now and am loving 55 mpg. While a truck is more flexible and would make certain occasions more enjoyable I have a hard time with the idea of selling the car and I'm not in a situation where two new cars makes sense financially (1st new car in my life was the Corolla and I dont do auto loans).

This is not surprising. Between the price increases and the reputation Ford built for NOT being able to get these very quickly, it's to be expected. It'll take Ford cranking the 24 orders out like crazy and more units showing up in dealer stock for that to turn around, IMHO, of course.

This could be the beginning of the car market crash I keep hearing about. It will be interesting to see what Carvana will be paying for used Mavs this year.

I hope the used market holds up long enough to get my Maverick and sell my Ranger ext. Cab 4x4.

I was at my dealer at 9:30 AM on the 17th. I was the only CUSTOMER, much less people ordering Maverick rollovers. My salesman said he scheduled a few rollover orders for the morning (but not many), and a few new orders for the afternoon (but even fewer). Appears the price increases and wait times have slowed sales…maybe too well.

All things combined: more shifts of production, higher allocations, less new orders might actually translate to 23s getting pushed out, and better turnarounds on new 24s.

I could also smash 3 honey buns today and hope to lose a pound. We shall see.

My old lady might be mad if the maverick shows up before the end of the year though. I'm probably pretty safe.

Everything you said, plus the recently introduced Ram Rampage and the vaporware Toyota Stout means that there are a lot of factors chipping away at the Maverick. Some may be waiting for the 2025 refresh.

Maverick still has price and MPG going for it, and I don’t expect to see demand for the Maverick to collapse. But we may soon witness the decline of dealer mark up, and insane used Maverick pricing.

In general, used car wholesale prices took a 11% decline from July 2022. Used pick up truck wholesale prices are down 6.5% year on year.

ha! me too. Actually kind of hoping it takes a while to give us time to decide what to do about my stupid Kia that needs a new engine. Kia is making us do all sorts of 1000 mile tests before they will act, and with me only driving less than 5000 miles a year, it's taking FOREVER to go through the official new engine process, even with the Kia Class Action lawsuit settlement. Need to get through all that before deciding to sell it, trade it in for the truck or keep it as a car for my teenagers.

Hope all that goes well. Definitely sounds like a bummer to deal with. Mine's just more of I told her 10-16 months LOL. December is always a hefty chunk to our pocketbook between christmas, a kid's birthday, and hauling 4 people halfway across the country. She did get executive decision on the color though.

Even with competing models, the maverick will still have strong sales, due to price and fuel economy. Of course they won't be "crazy" like the past 2+ years, but strong enough to sell every maverick built in the near future. Ford doesn't need or probably WANT the craziness of the past 2+ years of mavericks, pissing off customers who leave and don't come back, they just need and want to sell every maverick they can at msrp with no incentives. Just my .02
