raising the price, not improving the vehicle (heck if anything making it worse) and not making people's trucks that were ordered a long time ago adds up to some pretty frustrated people that are going to move onto something else.

My 23 XLT Hybrid just arrived and I now plan to sell it. I've had my Corolla Hybrid for a few months (after waiting 5 months for it to be built) now and am loving 55 mpg. While a truck is more flexible and would make certain occasions more enjoyable I have a hard time with the idea of selling the car and I'm not in a situation where two new cars makes sense financially (1st new car in my life was the Corolla and I dont do auto loans).
Seems like you may want to re-evaluate your decision making process. Why did you order a Maverick when you didn't need a truck and if saving gas was a top priority why didn't you get the Corolla first? And everyone says the Maverick is the only vehicle one has to wait for so what was going on with 5 month Corolla wait?

1. Massive Price increases chased away some buyers and probably all the flippers
2. Trauma from the last 2 years of not being able to get the truck. People have given up.
3. General slow down in auto sales. Inventories are building at most brands

I don't doubt the OP, but I offer these anecdotes to consider from a large (20K member) Maverick FB group I'm in.

1. Some folks are being told their dealership is only doing rollovers and not net new '24 orders.

2. Another person was told that their dealership started with more rollovers than their '24 allocation and they took a few new orders but are going to stop accepting them.

Regarding item #1 I think it's possibly true if a dealership has a large backlog of hybrids and a would-be new customer order is definitely a hybrid. Equally possible, in my mind, is that the salesperson is wrong and thinking of the MY23 Bronco issue. (MY23 Broncos did not open for orders at all last summer/fall, they only did rollovers, and then finally orders opened in March '23 when the backorder volume had been substantially reduced. And no Base models could be ordered, but anyway, enough Bronco.)

Also several people seem to believe that orders are about to close. I have not seen a single person I would consider well-informed state this.

My main sales rep at my local Ford dealership told me that she’s only had 7 orders so far. Last year they 60 in the same time period. This is the entire dealership, 7 orders. I know it’s antidotal but that’s pretty shocking. What are you all seeing?
I have a feeling most Maverick orders are from proactive customers independently selling themselves on the vehicle and then just randomly picking a dealer to fill the order which could explain the non predictable trends. I don't think most dealers are proactively selling customers on the Mavericks, and therefore likely doing little or nothing to draw interest.

It would be interesting to further ask your sales rep what effort they made to try and sell Mavericks vs. just waiting for people to show up.

Ford is usually good at keeping folks engaged in the model by offering new packages and drivetrains for the next model year. I'm not seeing anything new of interest for 24. No ST model, no AWD hybrid, no PHEV, pretty lazy on their part since alot of these things are in similar ford models.

Yes. I ordered a MY23 Tremor that is in production now. I am not ordering a MY24, but I would have ordered a ST. Fingers crossed for '25, I guess.

The salesman I spoke to had taken 23 orders at 4 pm on the 17th. I got the impression all orders were being funneled to him. He also commented they he felt confident they could deliver XLT and Lariat Ecoboost.

But they have more rollovers than allocations. Already looking at not getting enough orders to fill his order banks. No need to make new people wait if they will 100% be behind all of the rollovers.

That said, I could see them allowing the odd EB order through.
