What does "to offset any non‑equipment related price increases" mean?

I take it to mean base prices and transpo are price protected. any packages that include additional equipment for 2024 will increase by the price of that additional equipment.
That is how I interpret it. Protects price of XLT from 23 to 24. Does not protect price of optional sunroof, optional hitch, optional bedliner from 23 to 24.

I doubt many people that would buy an F-150 would suddenly jump down 2 levels to a Maverick. Maybe down to a Ranger.
*I* doubt many people who were interested in a Maverick would jump up two levels to a F-150.
There is no way I can fit a F-150 into my garage without major re-arrangement. I cannot reach the bed in a F-150. I do not need the room nor cargo space(at least 99.999% of the time), and as far as affording one, I could get 2 Mavericks for the price of one F-150.
To my mind, they are in totally different markets, and that is why 'protecting' the F-150 from lower priced internal competition is idiotic, and considering a $30k pickup as competition to a $50k and UP pickup and considering the size, it is a ridiculous concept which they are embracing.
You will LIKELY NEVER sell a F-150 to someone considering a Maverick. A Ranger, possibly, but it is a bit of a stretch when you go to put either in the garage. At least I think so.
Having all their 'profit' eggs on the F-150 basket seems like setting them self up for total annihilation should fuel prices get a big surge. Which could happen given circumstances several timezones earlier than ours.
Abandoning totally the low end of the market, except for Maverick, as the Escape is not an 'icon' vehicle and is scheduled to be discontinued, per the CEO, does not seem welcoming to any new customers, AFAIK.
But I do not own stock in the biz, so they can do what they want w/o input from me. And they do.

The 23 price in not "protected".... the private offer will be based on the (approximate) increase of the base vehicle. Probably by power train. So if MSRP for hybrids goes up ~$2,000 and MSRP for EBs goes up ~$1,000. That is what the private offer will be based on.
If you ordered a moonroof, and the moonroof goes up $200, that increase will not be factored into the private offer.

They are simply saying that the private offer amounts will be calculated only in the increase in base vehicle prices, and that any increase in the price for various optional equipment will not factor into the equation.
But what if i wanted to switch from a 33k Tremor TAP (TAP discontinued in 24) To a Hybrid that runs 29k out the door in 23?

Yes, but do know that the 23 price is not actually protected. There will be a private offer/incentive/rebate that will be for a set amount. This should (approximately/more of less) make up for any increase in the base vehicle price. For 22->23, there were 2 different amounts offered, one for hybrid and one for EB. It may just be like that this time, or trim level could also be taken into account. We don't know yet. But we do know that it will not be customized to every customer's exact build.

The offer will be based on your 23 order. You don't have to order the same thing in 24.

actually I was referring to equipment added to packages already ordered on your 2023
only 2 examples

Lariat Luxury Package now gets you a spray-in bedliner, whereas the XLT Luxury Package now gets you a hard drop-in bedliner.

I suspect there will be an upcharge on these bedliners added.

There is no 'Lariat Luxury Package' anymore since it's all standard and we already know what the price is there.

But I do suspect that the XLT Luxury Package will consequently go back up to $2105 at least.

Or, y'know, Ford is just continuing with their plan of trying to move more of their production to customer ordered vehicles so they don't need to cut margins as much with incentives. Like they said they were going to two years ago.
Yabbut... if you don't make anything(compared to first year Falcon/Mustang production) then moving the non-sold stuff to 'built-to-order' doesn't make a whits difference. If they upped production to match demand(ha!) then making a build-to-order system makes perfect sense. As it is, they can pick and choose who gets built, what gets built, who has to wait, and don't even need to bother to solve the problems of suppliers. No trailer hitches available due to lack of paint or nails? No problem, we just put that on the constrain list and build those that did not request a hitch from the factory. No hybrid batteries available? No problem, we will just build to order just those who wanted AWD or FWD ecoboost.... See? Build to order has bupkis apparently as they have only just recently added(or maybe not yet) another shift in Hermosillo. They ain't gettin' off their chubby cheeks in any viewable manner to get supply closer to demand, whether built to order or ordered for stock.
change my mind... tom

Old and stupid here. Can someone explain what this means please? "to offset any non‑equipment related price increases" or are there equation charts somewhere? lol Or is it like we raised the price so we will let you add some options for free? Ford will provide you with an incentive, through your dealer ? Any information would be helpful.
It means Base price before adding options. Example XL Ecoboost is $805 more in 24 than in 23. Do probably see $800 private offer. Instead of figuring everyone options that could make for thousands of different private offer amounts.

Will an XL hybrid private offer also only be $800?

No one knows, It's meant to be cryptic and ambiguous.
And old and stupid is Ford's target customer. Me included. Although waiting 10 months on nothing isn't really a customer, is it.
