What does "to offset any non‑equipment related price increases" mean?

No one knows, It's meant to be cryptic and ambiguous.
And old and stupid is Ford's target customer. Me included. Although waiting 10 months on nothing isn't really a customer, is it.
Non-equipment means the base price of trim before adding packages and optional equipment.

The idea I get is they are trying to protect the profit levels realized on the F-150 and other higher-priced models.

So the first time buyer shops competition and likes their lineup and has a good experience.
Most first time buyers interested in the Maverick have no interest in the F-150. Many Hybrid buyers don't even have any interest in the Maverick with the Ecoboost engine. Ford marketing knows this.

Additionally, a lot of younger buyers would rather just pick out what they want online, order it and have it delivered at a predetermined price without surprises on delivery day. Not deal with a shady car dealership that jacks up the price after you agreed to a lower amount when you ordered it. Unfortunately, Ford is like other manufacturers, they are saddled by outdated laws that force them to sell through stealerships.

So that sounds like it does not include the hybrid price hike if you ordered a 23 XL hybrid - just the $805 increase of the XL? The hybrid wasn't "optional equipment" when I ordered it.

I got mine "where it was available, when it was available". I have no loyalty to the place I got it from.

But a good dealership is worth thousands to you.

I found a different dealer for service that treats me well.

Tim tonight said there are still questions on what some offers will be. He said it may be August before they come up with the final amounts. One problem is 23 Lariat to 24 Lariat since the base price for 24 has former options as base.

I guess we will see. With the offers I've seen in the past. I would be shocked if they didn't include that into the offer amount. BTW, XL is actually $1200 more than the start of 23MY. There was a $400 price increase in February. I would think they would give $1200 for Ecoboost XL and $2700 for XL Hybrid. Again, my opinion, no proof to that theory.

Thank you. It really makes me hope I get a 23 built. I'd rather have the last 23 than the first 24 at this point with the price hikes and the removed options it's almost becoming a truck I wouldn't want. Especially the options that you really can't have put on afterwards at a reasonable price like the sliding rear window or a 400 W inverter. I know the inverter probably has chips but neither of those was ever mentioned as a supply chain constraint. I was so excited about this truck I wish I would have pulled the trigger when I wanted it. By the time I did I had to wait 7 months to order it ( picking out exactly what I wanted) and now 10 months ordering it. Now it's becoming a truck I don't even think I want. But I think that was their goal here if you can't make enough of them. All I would see on the 24 model when I picked it up was no sliding rear window. Hope I get the last 23.
I mean how do you then even interact with the dog and the wife and kids back in the bed?

Used to was, FoMoCo published a catalog of the options available and you picked and chose from that list of available items.
Someone got the idea to 'bundle' the options into a package. Those 'most chosen together'(or most profitable with a few {need this!} items) were so bundled into option packages. Check this box, and you have most of what you want.
So. they are just simplifying the production scheduling, dropping low profit items(low selling?), and making it easier for them and BTW more profitable per unit sold. What's new?
I watched the company 'de-content' models, removing a handle here, a bulb & socket there, amd changing metal handles to molded plastic. They even decided not to install the courtesy light bulbs in my 2nd new car.
There are crews dedicated to deleting things people likely will not notice. Note the display of temp in the HVAC controls... not there any more... as an example.
Life goes on, and this is not worth a bit of drama.
