  • Interior layout (styling and practical use of space)
  • Efficiency (>50MPG on my 29-1/2 mile (each way) daily commute)
  • Value (my 22 XLT + Lux package) - Lots of amenities per $
  • Functionality - towed my utility trailer well, got some real work done

Things exceeding my expectations

1) interior layout is better than I anticipated
2) AC is great and will run you out of the truck
3) mileage on my hybrid greatly exceeded my expectations. Running 45.5mpg since I got it with just under 10K on it
4) flexibility of the bed
5) sounds system on my FE sounds better than I expected based on comments on this board
6) Roominess of the cab is better than I expected
7) Smoothness of the ride and the eCVT

We've had a couple complaint threads so let's hear some unexpected positive things that surprised you about your Mav. Not your general likes, but something that exceeded what you expected.

For me:

Excellent AC
Interior roominess despite small size
Quiet and smooth ride (this was probably my #1 surprise, saw many complaints on this one but my XLT hybrid is very smooth and quiet at highway speeds)
Agree on ride. Went from an Audi to my Mav and have to say I expected that it would be an issue but the ride is great. Mileage on my 2.0 EB AWD with 4K is next. Currently the computer says I've averaged 33.4 MPG over the last 326 miles (50 with a trailer) with a mix of driving.

1. The fact that it apparently is getting built. XL Hybrid w/trailer hitch, ordered 9/17/22, scheduled for production 8/3/23. The odds were pretty low.

I really planned on buying an EB off the lot this fall. Whoo Hoo!!!
Exactly what I ordered in iconic silver. Scheduled to be built aug 28. From sept 10 of 22!

Guess I'm the only one underwhelmed by the MPGs of the hybrid. Only get about 36-38 and do 90% city. Rarely ever hit 40 for a trip and never for a tank.

I love the little short trips around town where I used to be lucky to get 13 MPG out of my S-10.

No eco mode on the 2.0 Turbo, at least not mine. FX4 shouldn't change it, but I have upgraded tires; even before the new shoes, mileage was still as I reported. Others on here have confirmed this a few times...
My Ecoboost mileage improved after putting 1500 miles or so on it. If the FX4 does not have Eco mode, that would also likely make a difference. What does your window sticker rate the FX4 mileage as? My Ecoboost with 4k tow is rated 22 city, 28 hwy. Last highway trip I got 32.5 mpg with it using 87 octane. Around town I've been averaging 24-25 mpg, but I always use Eco mode and I am intentionally being very light on the foot to see how high I can keep the mpg.

There have been posts on here that putting on more aggressive tires also decreased the mpg.

Ecoboost gas mileage is awesome! 32.5 mpg on a recent trip.

I was concerned about the complaints I read on here about the sound system, but on my Lariat it sounds great.

Seats are extremely comfortable. Again, I was concerned based on complaints here but we did two 12 hour drives and the seats are just awesomely comfortable.

The ride is excellent! Very sporty feel for a truck, and it is a real pleasure to drive.

I *LOVE* the driving assist features (ACC + Co-Pilot Assist working together). As someone who generally prefers manual everything this greatly surprised me. It practically drives itself on the highway and I don't feel nearly as tired at the end of a long trip.

My 2022 EB 2.0 AWD XLT w/towing pkg exceeds my fuel consumption expectations by using a lot more fuel than I ever expected. If you are calculating 32.5 MPG from your 2.0 EB you are going down a long steep hill with a severely strong tail wind and absence of your way overweight girlfriend.

Those are the ones I get the lowest. Going to and from work is only 2-3 miles and I guess it might not be warmed up enough. If I go on longer city trips that's when I will occasionally hit the 40 mark.

It was mostly highway with a few hills in Eco mode. The onboard computer showed 32.5 mpg and the phone app I use to track mileage indicated the same. The return trip was something like 31.8 mpg.

I'm sure you are right. The Hybrid must warm things up to keep emissions where they belong. My C-Max seldom starts the ICE in the beginning, as long as there is some battery left, but the Maverick seems to start the ICE most of the time on the day's first trip out.

This was a 4.1 mile trip to the dump. I got about 39 mpg going and this 67 mpg was coming back after shutting it off to dump. Even if it was only 30mpg, that would be over twice the old S-10 and I'd be happy.

No eco mode? Send me a picture of the area around your dial gear. Mine (FWD Ecoboost) clearly has options for Normal, Towing, Snow/Ice and Eco.

I really like the adaptive cruise control and the lane keep assist! Didn't realize the truck had these features when i ordered it.
