Exactly.As someone who owns a Maverick, and a landscape business, I have a secret to tell you. The tools fit when you put them in at an angle. Either across the bed, or with the business end down. Works every time. Do I also wish it was a 5 foot bed rather than 4.5ft? Heck yeah.
So two things we need to consider here: One, you can get a bed extender and two, didn’t you know how big the bed was before you bought the truck?This is a annoyance about the Maverick. The bed is 6” too short.
On my way to the dump to rid some yard waste. A cheap ole garden tool fails to fit. Jeez Ford, if one of the target users is homeowners, garden tools should be a consideration.
The farther back from the rear wheels (the pivot point) the end of load will swing wide, outside the lane of travel. Load extenders support a long load but encourage longer loads that approach insane.

Actually, it was a joke (hence the smiley). Obviously, a 10 ft boat won't fit in a 4 1/2 ft bed. Besides, I made a nice rack to hold our two kayaks in the bed.crgator said:

Could be worse Santa Cruz bed is 6 inches shorter than the Mav. Main reason I bought a Mav. One poster called me stupid as it's only 6 inches. But on a small bed every inch counts. I certainly knew the bed length before I ordered one.
