i have a '23 Alto blue hybrid that rolled off the line 14-03-2023 and i took delivery 26-04-2023.i'm VERY lucky, it only took me around 3 wks once i started looking to get it for sticker . i'm a relatively healthy 69yr old retiree who probably wont be buying many more new vehicles after this one. being realistic should i trust this truck to last me another 10 yrs or more? i am somewhat anal about regular maintanece so i do have that going for me. i average around 6 or 7 thousand miles a yr now so in 10yrs i doubt if i'll even hit 100k miles on the clock . anyway would you go with the more proven ICE version or go with what i believe to be a new superior technology that has yet to prove its ready for the long haul yet because its still sorta new. for what its worth

80% of my trips are to go to the local store and other places in my neighborhood. theres a mall that wifey likes thats about a 30mi round trip and thats it for hgwy miles. i have 1200 mi on it after 1 month of ownership/ combined mpg = 42.

Almost every modern car will last 100k with minimal maintenance. Rust will be the bigger issue if not driven more than 20k a year. Keep it garaged and clean in the winter when able.

But today 200k is expected. These batteries are actually old tech. They're just bigger. They generally don't fail all at once. They'll hold less charge which means more charging which reduces life, etc. But it's a slow descent.

Other thing is that most lithium batteries you'd dealt with before had little to no cooling. Which lessens life and limits charging and discharging. Cars have great coolant systems for the batteries for this reason.

There's always fluke failures with cars but that isn't abnormal just for hybrid or electric. Gas cars have had fluke issues since the beginning. Poor construction of a part, etc can cause failure.

You can dive it into the ground if you drive it off a bridge or a cliff. Should be no problem. I suggest not being in the truck when you do this. But that's your decision.

you make some good points, not to be morbid but i doubt i'll live long enough to put 200k on it with my current driving habits unless there are a whole gang of cross country trips in my future. for finacial and other reasons i want to try to make this vehicle last as best i can. i like it that much after only 1 month of ownership!! we are a 2 vehicle family with a 2 car garage, Mabel the Maverick will NEVER spend the winter outside as long as i own her. its the HVB hybrid system that causes me the most concern at the end of the day.

I wouldn’t worry! I had a 2013 CMax hybrid, garaged, for 8 years and sold it with 126,000 miles on it and always maintained.

Found my twin. I too have a Navigator (15) and soon perhaps an Alto Blue Hybrid Maverick.

Am optimistic that the eCVT drivetrain in the Toyota's and Fords are solid and will last for many years, if not abused.

No accessory belts, no clutch engagement, no shifting, no solenoids. The accessories may need fixing at some point, just set aside the cash and learn the actual cost.

If I don't get the Maverick, will reacess. Have a few things to consider, probably will delay until 2024 / 2025 to do something.

You’re gonna live until 100 and need an all electric Mav in 2035! I plan on getting one so we can chat about ours then.

That is one gorgeous truck. Love that color, just don't love washing vehicles enough to own one.

As others said, the hybrid technology Ford has is well proven, it's putting it in this body and doing so on the cheap that we are all test subjects for. It's easy to hop on this forum and hear people's tales of woe, but as others point out countless times forums like this attract people who are troubleshooting something, there's literally thousands out there just driving their vehicle and having a nice day.

I'm in the same boat as you, looking for this to be my very last vehicle I ever buy, and it probably will be. I'll cross fingers with you for both of our long-term success, in terms of both our trucks' and our own longevity!

I am 76 and bought my last vehicle 4 vehicles back LOL. I would say this would be my last one (23 Lariat Hybrid, Alto Blue), but who knows. You are spot on about washing. I save a lot on gas, but waste a lot of water, because the Blue Eagle loves baths.

Big question is how to retire at 69. I hit 76 a couple months back, and still going, although at a slower and smaller pace. I guess I am semi-retired, but hope to fully do so this year.

Beautiful truck. Are you sure you didn't get mine out of my garage? Love the Alto Blue hybrid. Like I told another MTC member, I save a lot on gas, but my water bill sure has gone up because the Blue Eagle loves baths.

Just like most hybrid/ full electric. See if the battery/cost is worth it at the time and condition of vehicle.

There was an article published a while back about a fleet of Escape hybrids used as NY Taxicabs. They drove the heck out of them, and IIRC got something like 400,000 miles out of those taxicabs. The Maverick uses basically the same drivetrain with slight changes, but it's a well proven design. I fully expect my Maverick to go 150,000+ miles with routine maintenance.

actually i retired at 66yrs. although Wifey works my sorry butt harder with her 'honey do' list than the day job ever did LOL the Alto Blue thing was total serendipity, that just happened to be the color they found for me. i originally was seeking a black one but this color has grown on to the point that for sure when/if theres another Mav in my future will definitely be that gorgeous Alto Blue!! i really like the way it seems to 'color shift depending on lighting conditions
