Ordered today with 3 to 4 month wait time, shortly after I get a message from the dealer saying, government has not approved the hybrid and it will be at least 7 months.

Also with wait being so long don't forget to get on the ford X pricing it can save around 1,000 on 30,000 price. Google it of if you need info on how to get it ask. I got it for 25 dollars. Make sure your dealer accepts it.

Ford Maverick * UPDATE*10/20* Dealer Hybrid hasn't been approved by government maverickhybridtext

Got the below email out of the blue. Rep told them that the epa approval is getting sorted and the 7 month estimate is now much shorter

Great news, your Maverick is previewing this morning, meaning its going to build right away. great news for all hybrid customers. it looks like Ford is getting things done. We have been lobbying hard for our customers.

Expect much sooner than anticipated... perhaps mid Dec.

I would wait to hear from a more reliable source than a dealership before I get to built-into believing that. It might be 7-months before you get your truck, but not because of that rather because production capacity and orders on hand put it that far out.

I think the half truths present here are:

1. The Maverick has not finalized EPA approval for sale.

2. If you order today, it COULD take 7 months due to parts/chips constraints.

::sigh:: The Maverick hybrid system is the same on as in the Ford Escape, so it is already "approved" by the government. So there's that..

Some June orders for ecoboosts have not been scheduled yet. I wouldnt believe the 1 month line either.

When has a transmission ever needed government approval? I would say never.
Park pawl and neutral safety switch are two federal requirements that apply to transmissions/transaxles. I don't know if this constitues "government approval" or not, but it's a FMVSS violation to not meet and there are big fines from the feds.

If that were me, I would check with another dealership. It sounds like that dealer may be trying to push you into an EcoBoost engine.

If your story is true, time to find a new dealer, because his story is almost certainly not true.

Aren’t there already hybrids being built and shipped for confirmed orders?

She came though with a photo of the conversation! So, now we'll just need to see if any other dealers can confirm this--or if her dealer is a total jerk.

Window stickers read "not for sale" or something like that right now. That should change when EPA gets done. I think it'll be Oct 5
