Has anyone received this message from Ford Pass?

"The engine control system has detected an air leak into the engine that should not be present. When this condition is present, can occur the engine Start/Stop feature (if equipped) disabling."

Sounds pretty poorly written coming from Ford, making me suspicious, and second, is this a real thing in the Hybrid?

Could be a air leak in the evap system, poke the fill hole with the Ford funnel to clear/reset the check valve. Can't hurt but don't expect immediate results.

Sorry, Fossil, what is evap system?

Sorry, Fossil, what is evap system?
The Evaporative Emission Control System (EVAP) is used to prevent gasoline vapors from escaping into the atmosphere from the fuel tank and fuel system at all times

google for more

if it isn't air tight, i.e. leaking air, sensors will set a fault code.

I've noticed other grammatical errors in their messages, once unheard of in a professional setting. Sign of the times...
Right on target. Lest we forget, dumbing down has worked. I just retired from a profession where I was in constant contact with bankers, attorneys, etc. and my mind was blown at what was submitted as proper grammar.

I think Fossil is on it, so I will schedule service, reluctantly.

Sounds like the grammar in some emails that I get from non-US locations. Probably a contract worker for Ford, who is from India or Africa.

The wording sounds more like unmetered air intake on the engine than an EVAP leak. But 'use your warranty, take it to the dealer' still stands.

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.

Looks like typical a.i. language translation.

Sure--the VIN is 3FTTW8E31PRA32446. My local dealer (not where purchased) is Butler Ford in Ashland, OR 97520. After stumping the tech, we decided to delete the message and see if it came up again. So far, it hasn't after three days. Appreciate you watching the forum and addressing issues.

Just happened to me too! I have the same thing showing up now on my truck as of today @ 2,600 miles. I'm on a road trip and 2k miles from home at the moment and here for another 10 days, less than ideal. Has your warning come back on yet after a reset? I've never had check engine lights come up on a car less than 5k miles before, worried what this means for the future.
