Service Engine Soon Warning "Air Leak detected"

I've seen a lot of people getting this same engine light error, but no one seems to know what the problem is yet. I got mine today. 4600 miles on my Hybrid XL.
I did do about 700 miles of highway driving in the past 2 weeks, which is way more than normal for me.

Has anyone figured this one out yet? It seems like everyone gets an appointment at their Ford garage and they can't figure out what the problem is. Seems like a pretty common issue at this point though.

Hi, I am a Ford Senior( as in I've seen a few things so I know a few things) Master Technician, I would guess it has something to do with the powertrain control module(PCM) software and calibration. There is a new emission recall that was just released Thursday September 21st for Mavericks built between February 3 2021 and April 11 2023( damn near all Maverick hybrids built so far lol) and I would bet this will remedy yours and everyone else's who has had this concern. Here is the stated reason for the recall that we in the service side of Ford dealerships get : "REASON FOR THIS EMISSION RECALL In the affected vehicles, the air/fuel enrichment calibration is not functioning as intended, due to a powertrain software error. The emissions control system might not be able to maintain vehicle emissions at optimal levels when the vehicle is driven at maximum speed or when the vehicle is driven at the maximum speed set by the customer in the MyKey feature. "

One would think Ford and other manufacturers would have the means for the consumer to do the updates (like iphone and Windows updates) without owners having to waste valuable hours on something as simple as an update.

I saw a thread from 9 Sept. where a member had the air leak CEL come up. He posted an OBD II trouble code 2282 which points to a leak between the throttle body and intake. Check your DTC codes. This may have nothing to do with recall 23E09.

air leak is P2282.....there is a TSB for it.

That should have been my post and I took the vehicle to two dealerships and neither found an issue... the second was able to clear the code and move me down the road.

I have an appointment for tomorrow, but the check engine light is no longer on, as of this morning.

I did try to cancel my appointment, but they called back and encouraged me to come in. They had already looked at the issue, and new they had to update the software. I did go in, and they updated it. Everything seems fine so far.
