Until someone shows proof that this is the case, it is all just rumor. I would assume (yes, assume) that someone who placed 4 or 5 orders would be wise enough to be checking up on them to see the status in the system is set as "Unscheduled - Clean". If Ford was voiding orders, they would either literally be canceling them (if so, how would they decide which they cancel), or the status would read something other than "Unscheduled - Clean". It would be a massive stretch to think that Ford has some sort of shadow system where they are voiding things, yet keeping them looking normal in the customer and customer support facing systems.
I really did not think anyone would take my first comment seriously.......... My bad, I guess. I will still stick with my definition of selfishness!!!!!

These trucks caught my eye back in late 2021... But didn't really consider getting one till spring of 2022. I do not want to pay over MSRP period. I have the ability to buy with X plan plus have a bundle of ford pass points to use. I figure I needed to order one and wait on it. Waited for order banks to open and when they finally did in September I put in my orders. Yes I said orders, I guess I am a greedy SOB, as I figured with constraints and whatnot I would order one truck with the bare minimum level of trim and options I could live with ( a XLT hybrid with remote start, co pilot, lux package ) and another exactly how I really want one ( Lariat hybrid with Lux, remote start, BAP, both co pilots ). Did this because figured it would double my chances of getting one or the other built, and to be honest there is a big difference in price between the two and was thinking if the cheaper XLT came in first I might decide I can live without the extra stuff the lariat has and be happy that I saved 6 grand.

Ordered from one of the biggest dealers near me in Charlotte NC. Then went to another large Charlotte area dealer and placed duplicate orders with them. That puts me on the books with 4 orders.

Yes I know there will be people saying my 4 orders are greed, and my orders mean less chance someone else gets their truck. My plan was to only take the first one that came in and likely cancel the other 3. Maybe if the XLT came first, I would keep the Lariat orders active till one of those is built and once one of them is built I could sell the XLT privately and get the Lariat. But I did not intend to buy up all 4 trucks. But whatever, I did what I did and if it makes me a bad person than so be it.

But aside from all that, I spoke to both dealers earlier this week and honestly it seems highly unlikely I will get any of these four trucks. Both dealers told me they had over 200-250 orders ( at each dealer ) placed in that short window in Sept the banks were open, and both told me they have seen hardly any of those orders come in at this point. One of the dealers said he doesn't think they have gotten in more than 6-7 trucks out of the over 200 they put on order. With 2024 banks opening in July, I don't see high odds that any of my orders will be picked up.

Be interesting to see if other dealers are in the same boat, with a high percentage of unfulfilled orders.

I still want one of these trucks but I am not desperate by any means. We did some shuffling around with vehicles in our household and replaced my wifes 2019 Mazda CX9 with a highlander, and I decided to keep the Mazda for myself to drive while waiting for the Maverick. I like the Mazda so much I almost don't even care if I get the maverick at all. Pretty much just the rising gas prices and the promise of 40+ mpg with the hybrid engine is the only real appeal to the maverick at this point as the Mazda is a much classier vehicle with outstanding fit and finish and bells and whistles the maverick would offer... and the Mazda is about paid off at this point.

I had predicted by summer it would be somewhat easy to find used and unclaimed mavericks for MSRP or below, but now I am rethinking that.

I ordered a no option XL hybrid only picked the color when the 23 order banks opened thinking it would be easiest to build, fastest to receive then found out a few weeks later that it didn't matter. Called the dealer and a 22 XLT LUX AWD 4K with 48 miles was now available at MSRP from someone's order that they didn't pick up so I went and got it. Like it a whole lot more than I thought I would! My bare bones 23 is shockingly scheduled for 15 MAY and I can't wait for it but sure wish I had some options. Might order a 24 when banks allegedly open July 17th. Call your dealers and see if a refused Maverick is becoming available. Might get lucky.

Although this has remained a secret, I have had someone tell me that Ford
Computers void all orders when the total exceeds two. As I recall, Ford publicly said five max. Play the system and sometimes the system plays you!! No, it may not be greed; some would consider it selfishness. Hey, I come first! If the order banks close quickly because of people like me, too bad!! You are just out of luck!
Not true. Ford can't even keep track of people's zip codes for private offer matching. You think they are doing name matches and voiding orders? You don't think dealerships would be mad as hell they have no chance to get those precious Mavericks and made some serious cash if the original order customer walks away?

Honestly, while your suggestion is nice grist for the rumor mill, it fails the tests of being supported by evidence or making any real practical sense for Ford Motor Co. and/or its dealers.

As has been stated here thousands of times, neither Ford nor dealers really care that much about the efficiency of the retail ordering and delivery system because they're ALL going to sell ALL THEY CAN.

Going 0 for 4 is pretty incredible. Maybe Ford is just not sending any to NC because my dealer had approximately 60 orders and few have been filled either (in Durham). He said in total he thinks they have 30 allocations.

I could understand ordering two vehicles, one in your name and one in your wife/GF/kids name and see if one or both get built but I think Ford would easily see one name/address ordering 4, 5, 82 Mavs are going to the bottom of their list. It looks like some scalpers who will flip them for $1,000s over MSRP. It screws up the new system of ordering with no dickering on the MSRP. Karma can be in the hands of the makers.

Maybe some negative energy being thrown at other customers should be redirected to Ford.

Some of the excuses and theories made up to excuse Ford’s dog shit systems are hilarious and not at all grounded in reality.

people here claiming ford is checking names for multiple orders but doesn’t have the ability to set a maximum on total orders placed when the bank opens? LOL come on now.

Also giving too much credit on caring about scalpers. They do nothing on dealer adjustments but I’m SURE they have a team dedicated to making sure a customer doesn’t order too many. /sarcasm

whole thing is a mess

You are lucky as hell to get in for MSRP. Dealers in Central Florida are getting $5k plus for cancelled orders (of dealer shenanigans.) I refuse to let emotion get in the way of buying a Maverick. Either I get my hybrid XL order filled, I order a 2024, or I get something else.

Heck order 20. FORD caused this issue so if everyone orders 20 Ford deserves it. I would say at least 4 orders for 2024. problem is finding 4 dealers you could trust NOT to rip you off if it comes in. .

Clearly Ford's ordering system leaves a lot to be desired. But the situation is worsened exponentially for all concerned by the rampant speculation that is happening around the Maverick. Numerous people (hundreds? thousands?) have ordered multiple Mavs with the sole intention of flipping them as soon as they get them. Whatever. This is America where cash is king and civility and decency go to die. One day the music will stop and some of those same folks are going to learn a hard lesson about economics. Again, whatever.

My point is: Ford is not solely responsible for the ordering SNAFU. Think about this: if only the people who truly wanted/needed a new Maverick had placed an order when the '23 order banks opened, would Ford have had to shut down the ordering system in less than a week? I'm guessing the answer is no. The hysteria fed on itself and the result was unsurprising.

It's disappointing, but not at all surprising.

To the OP, maybe if you, and all the others who took your approach, had only ordered one truck, maybe you wouldn't be waiting for nothing right now.
