Hey Everyone,

My original post https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...weeks-solution-12v-battery-replacement.23132/

I am now having the same problem again 2 months later with my Hybrid. It was in the shop for 6 weeks! And I live in Califorina without the extreme temperatures around the country.
Right now our temperature is in the 60's on 12-26-22. I am in southern California so don't get me wrong, Northern California is quite a bit colder.
This is one of the reasons Southern California is sooo expensive to live!

I feel very sorry for people in bad whether conditions everywhere, especially if you have to rely on your Maverick to get to work or school or just make things happen throught a normal day. I used to live in Chicago and that was fun for kids. Since I moved at around 12 years of age and visited not too long ago, I knew I made he right choice to stay in CA.

After my Dealer 12volt Battery replacement, all has worked very well now for 2 months without me changing my driving habits. I drive to work and lunch and back home which is approx 7 miles per day. THAT IS THE PROBLEM ! I have been told you need to drive it 20 miles per day to make it all charge properly. REALLY, what if I don't? Nobody ever told me this when I bought my Hybrid! 20 Miles A day is a lot of miles!
That is a lot of miles per day and I think that is a major problem with this Hybrid vehicles Charging System!

I'm sure someone knows better than me, please explain it to us!
Yeah, I don't think anyone will jump in quickly to defend the problem.

It appears that when I have the interior and cargo lights come on after an immediate drive, they seem to work fine and then 1 hour later they will not come on the next time I drive the truck.
An hour later if I come back to the truck and unlock, NO Interior Lights or Cagro Light or Dash & Radio.

My friend which was a FORD Service Manager a long time ago suggested this for all of us Hybrid owners.

This is not someting any of us we all want to do but it may help you drastically in the long run.

He suggested a Solar Charger/Battery Minder. He said when you get to work and leave it sit in the parking lot all day this solution might help.
Stick the Solar Cells to the inside of your windsheild using the suction cups and leave it there while you have the car parked all day.

The Maverick is a daily driver for me and I commute at least 9.6 miles daily that is a combined journey of getting there and back.

I’ve never had any issues with the deep sleep although I noticed when I had all the interior lights on while the truck was off and my dash cam was running on parking mode I got the alert. I’m very certain your dealer claiming 20 miles to fully charge everything is false.
Perhaps a different battery can be used to test?

If they didn't replace the 12v harness up front when it was in the shop, you need it done. Trucks built before 5/13/2022 have a TSB ( Technical Service Bulletin 22-2340) specifically for this complaint. If yours was built after this date, you might still have this problem or possibly a second bad battery.

I was thinking the same thing.
How do people figure out their build date?
I know mine was definitely before 5/13 since I bought it in March.

Look on the tag on your driver's side door post. Date is there.

Mine is doing the same. I only drive maybe 10 miles most weeks so it's always in deep sleep... I tried to turn off the connectivity options yesterday but it wouldn't let me for some reason.

Sometimes, like right now for example, I feel like I'm cheating the system or something. My truck was built 9/13/22 and has been in my possession for almost two months and 2,000 miles and so far absolutely NOTHING has gone even the slightest little bit wrong. It starts, it drives, it stops, and generally does exactly what a Honda/Toyota owner expects from a car. I feel really bad for those of us who are mistreated by their Mav's.

Wifi is off but it's the other connectivity features that won't turn off even when I deselect them..

Just curious if you are having a problem yet?
My problem didn't start until about 2500 miles.

I don't know about @raymaines, but I've got 2,582 miles on my Maverick Lariat Hybrid that was built on 6/9/22, and I've had no issues whatsoever. Been through a couple of really cold stretches (by Texas standards - 8ÂşF for 3-4 days, then 15ÂşF for another couple of days) with the truck parked outside my son's house. No issues.

RE 20 miles/day=not necessary. Many options. One when coming home put into LOW which will insure that HVB will have relatively good charge or not as ice will start when needed to keep HVB between 30-40%. Park vehicle in ready mode turn off all accessory items and AC and lights in order to minimize time ice will run. Depending on soc of 12v the ice will cycle on/off in 20 min or if almost fully charged maybe once an hour just depends on 12v draw on bus. If I do not drive my hybrid maverick for a week or two I will put it in ready status 30 minutes or more about every 3 or 4th day. I have a voltage meter in my dash power port and I vary time based on 12v soc based on what voltage is shown when truck has been sitting at least 2 hours. This is , or course, not the best approach but is easy to do and actually uses very little gas.
TWO: Use a good maintainer (I have a noco 5 amp genius though the 10 amp is an impressive one). Just be sure to not connect the ground to the negative battery post as that has the potential to harm the BMS per what I have read. To extend the life of the 12v I intend to put my noco on my maverick every third or fourth month to insure it is 100% topped off. I learned to do this on my Honda CR-V which would need a new battery every 30-36 months. My last battery in the CR-V was still going strong after 64 months.
Three: the solar maintainer is a good idea but I would get a thin film one and have a wrap shop apply it to roof and run wires through the third brake light most likely with a switch to turn it on and off. I am going to look into this option.
Edit to add: I have had this hybrid maverick four months, have 585 miles on it, have seen 11.6v on 12v and have never had lights off, deep sleep messages, or failure to start.

Hello - any updates on your issue? I live in Huntington Beach and picked up my XLT Hybrid just over 1 month ago. So far, I've had 3-4 deep sleeps and 2 completely dead batteries. Both times involved me driving long distances, coming home, unloading while the truck was still running (key in ignition) for 10-15 minutes, shutting down and heading inside. Wake up the following morning - dead battery.

I just got back from the dealership in Irvine who replaced my 12V battery and told me I had a bad cell and a few updates in need of doing. I thought I was in the clear, I woke up this morning to go to work and noticed my screen didn't come on...no big deal. I get to work and open my Ford Pass to see that just about an hour before I drove it this morning (around 6 am) I got another Deep Sleep notification. This time, perhaps because I "caught it in time" and drove it close afterwards, it started up just fine.

But why and how? I'm getting nervous that this is issue runs deeper. How have you been doing the past 3-4 months since this last post?
