I was scheduled to go in for my airbag replacement next week, the day before I leave on a 454 mile trip. However after reading all the posts about the issues after airbag replacement I called to postpone my appointment. The scheduler said I could get the work done in Quick Lane since it is considered a 1/2 day job. Something about “quick” makes me leery and concerned about hastily shoving those wires back in a tight spot after what I’ve read.

Has anyone had their recall addressed in Quick Lane? Any after issues?

Not sure how all the dealerships are but usually the techs in the quick lane are for oil changes and such, would want to know if they were qualified to do the work. A good tech will be the difference in a good job or bad most likely.

Two weeks ago my “regular “recall air bag work took about 3 1/2 hours. No problems ... and yesterday a YETI drink container was on my front steps with a “thank you” note from FORD.
Good to know! That makes me feel a little better but I still think I’ll wait until I return to get my airbag. Is the Yeti cup just a dealer thank you or really a Ford thank you?

Asked my stepson (Ford service manager), he laughed. When service bays are tied up with units waiting for parts he shifts techs to available Quick Lane bays on a regular basis. For him it's keeping his techs busy and repairs moving.

It will be done "hastily" either way. IME, whether it's done in Quicklane by lubetechs, or by line techs in the shop, the quality of work will be roughly the same. The warranty time is probably garbage so they aren't gonna hand an airbag recall to an A-tech unless it's something notoriously difficult or if the customer is known to be finnicky.

I had mine done recently and it ran into a second day. The tech put a note on the work order that he was having difficulty aligning the air bags and getting the trim pieces back in place correctly, I told them to take their time when the service writer called to let me know about the delay.

Whoever did it, did a good job. No evidence they ever had it apart, so I'm glad I didn't put them under time pressure.

Thank you! Another reason to wait until I return.

I made an appointment for an oil change and both recalls a couple months back. My appointment was on Monday. When I dropped the vehicle off on Monday the dealership said they needed to order the parts for the airbag recall. I was frustrated but not shocked as I had read similar stories here on the forums. Later on Monday they texted that the parts for the airbag replacement would arrive on Tuesday and asked if I could leave the truck with them. I said yes and asked what time I could expect to have the truck back. They said "end of day" because the work required the removal and reinstallation of the entire headliner. I got a text around 5:00 pm Tuesday that the truck was done. Today, (Wednesday) I'm going to detail the interior and try to get rid of some barely noticeable smudge marks on the light gray upholstery on the headliner.

I had the recalled done this morning at Nick Nicholas Ford in Inverness, FL.
Had a 8:30am appointment and was finished by 11am.

Doesn't really make sense... QuickLane is Ford's branding for maintenance services that can be performed relatively quickly - oil changes, tire rotations, brake pads/rotors, fluid flushes, etc. Then there's service for everything else. Depends on the specific dealer as to how closely the two interact. Not sure why they'd tell you an oil change tech would be working on the interior of the vehicle (they already tend to stain it enough for an oil change), let alone the air bags, but something seems to have been lost in translation here....

As its been mentioned in others posts - the new airbags dont always fit well against the headliner (either the bags are larger or attached too low).

I dropped my headliner before taking it to Ford. I installed it afterward (carefully) and the airbags arent letting the headliner fit properly - causing you to see the edges of the headliner when you open the doors.

Just got my recall done, no issues. It really seems to come down to technician experience I’m hearing.
