Anyone know a good place to hide an tracking tag in the Maverick. Somewhere that is hard to find and still broadcast a signal.

You would have to verify this works but what about the auxillary 12v connection point in the bed or behind the Cubby area of the bed.

Don’t know about a signal, but I’d try velcroing it up inside the front center cubby space, underneath the screen.

It’s pretty dark in there (unless you have ambient lighting?) and don’t think anyone would see it unless looking.

Or, if you get one of the aftermarket “mystery cubby” (right of the screen space) fillers people are making with 3D printers, that would be a great place also. Some are little boxes that snap in tight there.

Not really needed as the Maverick has built in GPS tracking using the Ford Pass app.
Yes, I know, but Ford Pass has limitations, geo fencing, family share, etc...

For now I am lazy and just have it in the sunglasses storage thing above the rearview mirror. It is just loose in there. Hasn't fallen out or rattled around at all. I will admit I am from Seattle and have not had to use my sunglasses much, so this might change once I go thru an entire summer.

I like @KdeB 's idea of velcro up under the center storage (under the USB ports). That is where I have my Wireless Android Auto dongle velcroed, so I know it works to keep things out of view. Maybe I will move mine down there.

Except if it gets stolen and battery cables are cut and no power to modem. Some are being built without the modem so they don’t work with Ford Pass.

Look into Life360.

That said, I would put it in the center console. Bluetooth connection shouldn't be a problem through the plastic.

Except for that lovely notification your iPhone gives when you are moving with an AirTag that isn't yours. I don't think it is meant as an anti-theft device. More of a "turn on my lights when I get home" device.

Yep, the ultimate combo is to use the free version of the Life360 app with the Tile added into it. Although the Tile in my Mav claims to have not updated since January wthin the Life360 app. Perhaps my Tile App on my phone is in deep sleep or something.

Could be if you have Android. It has a bad habit of putting apps to sleep without telling you and also not updating said apps if you haven't opened it in a while.

I could be wrong, but I think they are being built without the Hotspot feature. Shouldn't affect modem and Ford Pass functionality.

Could be…I just remember seeing some new ones that sticker said 4g LTE delete. I could have those two things mixed up.

I use these to conceal airtags in my vehicles, because they can look like something that is naturally a factory part of the vehicle
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BML9SKPX/

Ideally you should remove the speaker from the airtag

And yes, I install them regardless of the factory tracking features built into the vehicle. Unplugging the car battery or pulling a fuse will disable the vehicle tracker. $20 for an Airtag is a cheap backup and it operates completely independently of the vehicle

As far as where to hide them, behind or under a panel is a good place - like the underside of battery cover in a hybrid maverick or anywhere behind the rear seat, or attached to the backside of the cubby cover panel in the bed etc

Do you lose your Maverick frequently? It's a large, easy to locate object.
Yeah - they're always right where you left them, until they aren't....
