Y'all baby your vehicles too much. Please don't use a scraper on the $1k headlights, lol.
No, I do not baby my vehicles at all. I just don't purposely try to destroy expensive components when it is not remotely necessary. My truck sits outside all winter in Maine. I have never needed to scrape the headlights.Y'all baby your vehicles too much.
I literally had to scrape off the lights on my XLT in the first week. You just do it carefully.
I don't have a garage, so I've had to do this with every vehicle I've had for decades. Plastic is easy to damage, so you just use a steady hand. Also, non LED lights freeze over the exact way, so it really makes no difference.
Nice false equivalency. Thanks for the reply. Quite a community we have here. Is there an admin that can just lock this disaster?Design flaw???? I guess when it sinks when try to drive across water that’s a design flaw as well. Manufacturers can’t build every conceivable scenario into a vehicle, especially when it starts at around $20k.
Yes, the Maverick should have come with an ARSS (Automatic Removal Scraper System).^^. How about virtually the entire upper and lower grills being almost completely iced over? Another design flaw?
That's what the fuss is about? You use the brush end of the scraper to get rid of any loose snow, and then use the scraper to clear the headlights. Takes five minutes. You also want to clear as much of the grill as possible to allow for good air intake.No. I don’t know why it won’t open now. I just attached it again. This was after pulling over twice on my way home from work to clean the front end off. Again, maybe not a design flaw, more of an unpleasant side effect of the design. Maybe other vehicles also have this happen, I’ve never had it in any of my GM, Ford, Chryslers, Mazda, VW, Nissan, and whatever else I’ve had over the years.

No they are not. Words have meaning. Insinuating that Ford should have somehow anticipated this as a problem and addressed it is wrong. This is an issue that has affected all vehicles since headlights were invented. There are already many existing strategies to deal with it. I've had my windshield continuously ice over while driving and used up a whole gallon of washer trying to keep it clear. Heat was on full blast, but I don't think I can hold Ford responsible for the bad weather and my choosing to drive in it.People here are so touchy over word choice. "Design flaw" may not be the right wording but OP is just posting an issue he had.
