Sold my Maverick to Carvana

How much is a pair of Air Jordan shoes worth? How about .25ct diamond? Bag of dog food, concert tickets to Taylor Swift?

I remember a facebook video about this guy bragging about paying 50k over msrp for a hellcat or something. Like he custom ordered it and still paid over msrp like it was some badge to collect. Like I just cant see how people can be like that yet every day we see cars selling for well over what they are worth.

That's double what dealerships here are adding onto Shelby GT 500s.
One of my neighbors was looking at one, and the dealership said even if he special ordered it the additional markup would still apply. He can afford it, just refuses to give someone money for nothing at all but the opportunity to but the car. Said if he wanted one that bad, he'd find a dealer not charging markups. He has a 350R so I don't think he's pressed to get a 500.

Carvana offers me 31,500 for my lariat hybrid lux. MSRP is 32k.
I think they don’t know the difference between XL and Lariat.
KBB has a better value for it.

Nicely played Lol I sold them a mustang Mach e in November and pocketed almost 10k it was fun for a year, but it was problematic the range was bad in cold weather. I can’t give up my maverick. Jes sayin

I think they don’t know the difference between XL and Lariat.
KBB has a better value for it.

But they do list the Lariats at a higher sale price than the XL and XLT...

I have a 2023 Lariat Hybrid Lux and Black appearance package Cactus grey in production status. Decided it was time to sell my base 2022 lariat Hybrid,Carmax Offered me 31,000, Carvana 28,000, Kelly Blue book instant cash offered 27 875. Vroom offered me 21K LMAO. A local dealer contacted me through Kelly and showed him the Carmax offer and he said I can do 31,500 so I took it.
Mind you my maverick has 30,000 miles on it and I payed msrp for it on December 18 2021.
Think I was pretty lucky

My Carvana offer went up about $400 since 2/15/2023 to $32,329 on 3/1/2023.

Mileage is 6900 and I have had my Maverick for 14 1/2 months.

Vroom is offering $31,523

MSRP was $24,620 and my out-the-door-price was $26,068

Carvana offered $ 38,568.00 for my 2022 Lariat lux with 3200 miles this morning. originally paid MSRP $33,315.00. Driving to a CarMax tomorrow morning to get an offer. CarMax considered my Maverick to be a rare vehicle and would not make an offer online.
My dealer said they will beat CarMax's offer for trade in.
The new 2023 Maverick will have a sales tax of about $2300.00 with no trade. Should be no sales tax if I trade my 2022 Maverick in. Trading in will best if dealer does match or beat CarMax"s offer.

I did not save my Carvana account with the $38,568 offer. I decided to try again tonight so it would be saved and give me a few more days to consider it. The new offer generated had increased to $41,320. My new 2023 is in production now. My salesman was not saying the right things about what they would offer today. They would not give a trade offer until my new Maverick arrives at the dealership. We have a Mazda cx-5 my wife and I will share until the new truck arrives.
Will try to get the info Carvana requires in the morning. The new 2023 maverick's MSRP is $35750. My window sticker has the $500 extra that will be removed by price protection.

I have known tons of people that have sold vehicles to Carvana, Carmax, etc. but I have never met anyone that bought one from them (or at least that would admit to it). Who are these people? What is happening? I seriously don't understand any of it.
