Yep thats it. I quit trucking after 2 years, couldnt juggle the break the law or lose your ride lifestyle. I grew up in Enon about a mile from the tracks. But when I lived in Fairborn I was right across the tracks from Hope Hotel at the base. In my early 20s I even lived on the path of the torn up second track near Enon Beach in a van. Never saw a service truck once in almost a year.Grew up in Vandalia/Englewood area and watched the same.
We should have been focused on making our rail system work smarter for us a long time ago.
Now, we're seeing the results. Beat-up roads, burnt-out truckers.
This country really does need a mid-speed freight rail network across the country and a high speed commuter system up and down the coasts. Thats what will keep us having an edge over developing superpower countries. The ability to smoothly operate our in contry supply chain, which in turn lowers in country manufacturing costs, increasing pay, profits, and r&d.
