Hi everyone,
I created an order for a Lariat with a local dealer. However, I saw the price hikes from Ford for 2023s I asked the dealer to change my order to an XLT. Instead I began getting emails from Ford with orders for both versions, meaning the dealer had placed a separate order so they could sell it. All good there, I told them it was smart to do so.
However, my financial situation has improved since placing the initial order and I got an email from Ford saying the Lariat is scheduled for production on March 6, but not the XLT. I told the dealer i want to take the Lariat since it was my original order and it hasn’t even been made yet and they can keep the XLT. Now, they are telling me they don’t see the order on their end. Is it possible that Ford is making a truck with a “cancelled order” or do you think they are playing dumb to sell the Lariat on their own for more?

When did you make the change?? If it was after order banks closed, your dealer couldn't have entered a new retail order.....

It was in November, past the order bank closing. But if the dealer made the change then I should have the XLT getting scheduled for production since not the Lariat, since the Lariat would have been altered to the XLT.

Sounds like you have been Forded by the dealer. You may be out a Maverick until 2024.

Yes, I don't think that they could have entered another order for you then.

Possibilities that I can think of: There is a glitch/mismatch in the old syst vs new syst about your features. Maybe it actually is the XLT scheduled???

Or maybe the dealer had someone who wanted to go in the opposite direction, and tried to "switch" orders?? Or just wanted a Lariat, and had someone who changed their mind on wanting an XLT Mav, so they just tried to associate that other XLT w/ you, and leave your original Lariat alone?

Do you have the VIN of the scheduled Mav? It is probably too early for me to get an invoice....but I might be able to get some info on it for you.

I just got in touch with the dealer who checked the system and they have me in the file as still having the original Lariat and their schedule for production date is the same as what my Ford email says. Maybe the dealer never actually made the switch to the XLT or did the paperwork wrong so it didn’t process? But from what he just said I should be ok I guess…

Well, I think they are playing dumb if anything.

Did you get a VIN# for your Lariat?

I wouldn't necessarily say it is greedy on their end as much as it is opportunistic? My question is if you asked them to switch from Lariat to XLT during the 4 days that 2023 order banks were open? If you didn't - then they didn't submit a second order for you they could only alter the existing one that was placed.

Well then, Congrats on your scheduled Lariat!

Also - I would change the title then since the dealer isn't shady, just lazy.

Yeah I have a VIN number that checks out on Ford’s end. Thanks guys. I can amend the thread name I think.
