That's a garage not a dealer.

As a gear head for my entire life ..... literally born into it, I am with you as it has been my experience that I usually know more about the vehicle I am interested in than the rep trying to move it off the lot. That’s not bragging it’s just exposing my pathetic attention to detail and doing my homework.I usually know more about a vehicle I’m interested in than the sales person selling it.
You would think the sales person would want to be knowledgeable about the vehicles they are selling but most of the times they are clueless.
another fun fact: You sound like someonw with asperger, says someone with aspergers (me)As a gear head for my entire life ..... literally born into it, I am with you as it has been my experience that I usually know more about the vehicle I am interested in than the rep trying to move it off the lot. I did enjoy the days when a sales person was a professional that was trained by the corporation he/she represented. Perfect example would be fleet truck sales... they had to know their product as well as the competition so that they could fit your needs and be SATISFIED!They built trucks on paper personally by hitting the books.
Another fun fact is that I have a collection of business cards that held the individuals name, dealer contact etc. and was often printed with the model you were discussing. I have a number of Camaro and Mustang photos on personal cards that the rep matched with our discussion. Fun and effective, many have stock #s and OTD prices noted on the back. Couldn‘t afford them but enjoyed the dream![]()
Yes indeed times change - but I have mellowed a tad. Today it amazes me to hear that folks are buying expensive vehicles without sitting, smelling, touching, or otherwise in any contact with it before purchasing.another fun fact: You sound like someonw with asperger, says someone with aspergers (me)
I always hated walking into a showroom floor of whatever product and having to deal with salesperson X who starts off with: Can I answer any question? I respond sure but will you answer it authoritatively? Then I whip out some certification or piece of knowledge beyond their ken and walk on. No one knows their own products anymore, and less than no one knows the competition.
Times change.
There are car vending machines these days…Yes indeed times change - but I have mellowed a tad. Today it amazes me to hear that folks are buying expensive vehicles without sitting, smelling, touching, or otherwise in any contact with it before purchasing.
The entire process can be nearly void of human contact and the rig is delivered to the desired spot - all without much interaction. I pity the rep that will be stuck with me and my hands on approach to a Maverick purchase.I will be politely all over the Fords as they appear ( hopefully several) on dealer lots for some real tire kicking before ordering. Thanks for sharing![]()
