Congrats on the new vehicle. Personally I don't like how the SC looks. My wife also saw one and was like what the heck is that thing.
thats why they make something for everyone, my wife is sort of the one talked me into it, she saw one in Dec. and said WOW ,why did you not get one of those.for me I like both.

Enjoy the SC and please drop a line in this thread now and then to let us know your ownership is going. I had the same experience as FromAway in the post just above, but I had a completely opposite reaction. I find my Maverick to be dull and drab, even in HPR. I parked next to a light blue SC at our grocery store and that SC really popped. I still might trade my Maverick later this year for an equivalent SC SEL AWD.

I'm definitely not in the SC haters club. Lots of things the SC has that I kind of envy going on 5 months and 5,000 miles in my Maverick, from a superior bed material to better tech to far better overall quality. I see a lot of FUD about the SC here, which I just dismiss as children acting out.
so far I really like it, only about 3 weeks now, tried AWD today in rain storm, handles great, love the looks ( but I like both) really like the warranty, it was $28,750 ,I got it at sticker and the wallace dealer fee was $899, not happy with that ,as mullinax ford has no dealer fee.now with our luck I will get a notice from Ford that the maverick is being built !! after 16 months, we are about done with ford, after about 30 plus of them. we shall see.

Congrats on the new ride! As much as I like my Maverick, I’d take a Santa Cruz if that was my only option. I get excited when I see both out driving around

You did the right thing, doing what makes you happy. If everytime you are behind the wheel you are happy, then it is a win. I am on the endless apology email list from Ford as well and everyday my trade is worth less and less. it is a Toyota Rav4 hybrid with 49k miles so worth about $24500 in trade. Convinced I will never see my hybrid this year, and by the time I get it the trade will be worth $12500 if I am lucky! Rav4 is nice but not what I wanted.. My wife has a Jeep gladiator and it is so much fun to drive and a blast in the summer stripped down. I am looking at a used Rubicon gladiator Monday, that is about 6k more than my Maverick order. Hybrid Maverick would have been great, but I can get something I will enjoy and could care less about the mileage. I will keep my order and if the gladiator gets to be too much, I will trade it for my 2025 Maverick. ;)
I hear you on the trade in value. Went to a Ford dealer a couple days after Xmas to see if I could order a Maverick. They told me order window was closed but they had an XL Ecoboost AWD 4K on the lot that they wanted $5000 over MSRP.
Took it for a ride and liked it. They then made me an insulting trade in offer on my 2019 base model F150 regular cab long bed with 14000 miles in excellent condition. We dickered a little back and forth but we’re still about $4000 apart on what I wanted to pay.
I thanked them for their time and asked them to let me know when the order window opens up again, and then I drove home. They called me on the way home and lowered the price by $2000. Told them I would think about it when I go home and talked to wife. They called again 15 minutes after I got home and reduced the price further to where it was within a couple hundred of what I wanted to pay.
Ended up getting $22000 trade in for a truck I paid $26000 for about 4 years ago. I never would have paid above MSRP unless the trade in price was good. Trade in value has already dropped over $1000 on my old truck in the last month.
My reasoning was that I could wait until order window opens up again, and then wait who knows how long until the truck is built. That would probably end up being a year or two and by that time my trade in would be worth a lot less, probably more price increases on the MSRP etc of the new vehicle.
By my reasoning I figured my choices were pay above MSRP now and get a good trade in on my truck, or wait a year or 2 and pay MSRP but take a beating on the trade in.
Figured it would end up costing about the same in the long run if I got it now. They end up sticking it to you either way !!
Good luck with the Santa Cruz !

Was Thinking same thing in the long run.. I am figuring about at least a 16+ month wait since I ordered a hybrid. prices going up, trade value going down. I think it will cost me way more to wait since I am counting on a high trade value to afford the vehicle.

If I could get a good deal on an SC Limited on a lease with a reasonable offer on my Mav, I'd probably swap. Cooled seats are something I'd be willing to swap for here . If the SC ends up being a piece of crap, back to the dealer it would go.

Hey, congratulations on the new SC!

Driving home from Tahoe on Sunday (I'm in my '06 Element until/unless my Mav is built :) ) and I had a white SC on my right and a cactus grey Mav on my left, for about 4 miles.

A big contrast! The SC seemed... "knobbier" if that makes any sense, with emphasis on the wheel wells, and I have nothing against that look at all. I like cars with weird looks (69 Plymouth Barracuda rear window, anyone?).

When it became clear that ordering a Maverick would be a long wait, I looked at SCs. I felt that the money and mileage were just enough worse than the Mav to make it worth while to wait.

Taking a second look, and comparing mileage against the ecoboost with the lowered MPG estimate, it's a bit closer of a contest now (for_me_).

my problem is I like them both, Bigger problem I like most all makes/models etc. being 68 im trying to downplay cars/trucks , if I had the $$$ I would have many ,no longer !! I have been NUTS and have had over 60 total , some were when I did car shows about 15 years, in my 40's-50's had a AMC Marlin- Gremlin-AMX -Matador 2dr cupe- and a# AMC rambler station wagons-many cougars-mustangs-rancheros- tbirds- etc. need to cut the "car" stuff and just keep my daily one for now. my wife has a 2016 Kia soul, bought it new, and ,she may now, just keep it, and not trade fir the maverick, (if they ever build it)we still have the maverick on order now on month 16 !!

What, no Javelins???? :) As a kid, I drooled over AMXs and Buick GSXs, so maybe I just like things with Xs in them?

Seriously, I wish you best of allocation luck with the 16 month wait -- may you have great news on Thursday!

Just don't reward the dealership by walking away from your order!!

Please buy it when it arrives and sell it to me for $2000 more!!
