I'm assuming for the first question you meant Ranger, since that's the proverbial bird in the hand. I actually went and test drove a stupidly marked up Maverick at a local dealer before committing to the Ranger. Really liked it, but I wrote a big list of pros and cons for each car and the Ranger narrowly won out. The dealer I bought the Ranger from also gave me a very good deal on the truck. I was prepared to walk if they didn't meet my admittedly ridiculous offer, but they did.

Regarding the telework thing, I'm an engineer/plant inspector for the Federal Government in DC, and our union literally just finished negotiating with the agency to expand telework to 8 days/pp (up from 6). This is the permanent policy now, so I'm safe there for a while. I'll be sure to report back with what I decide; definitely going to be mulling this over for a while.
Great. Can't wait to see what you eventually decide to do.

@10Terp congratulations on fewer days of having to battle the horrendous NOVA to DC commute!
Good luck with your dilemma, which is not a bad one to have.

Maybe I will have a chance on my XL, I just have to wait for all the "money makers" to give Ford their profit dollars before breaking even on mine!
I'm still hoping for Ford to build more "money makers" so there's a chance I can get my truck too.
Good luck with your order. May the Ford scheduling odds be in our favor.

Well I've got myself in a bit of a nice-to-have pickle. I ordered my Mav on 9/16 with no hopes of getting a build date until at least late summer. So a few weeks ago I test drove, fell in love with, and bought this Ranger (and got a steal on it, 2.5k under MSRP):
Here is what I would do. Buy the Maverick, Keep the Ranger. If the wife is happy you be happy right.

I think since you made out like a bandit buying the Ranger you might also do well selling the Maverick for over MSRP on the open market. They are unicorns afterall.

Reason for keeping the Ranger? Your commute just got the axe so is there a real need for high mileage anymore. Rangers make great trucks and like you said, she likes it.

Dear Ford Motor Company,

It’s been 469 days and I am still waiting for my Maverick to get scheduled for production. I really don’t understand anymore what’s taking so long and your ability to communicate with me has been terrible.

The dealership has plenty of allocations. The only constraint is the hybrid engine. The dealership can’t tell me anything.

Since I originally ordered this truck in October of 2021, I would have thought I would have recieved early 2023 Production date and be part of the early 2023 hybrid production.

If Ford is monitoring this site, what are you guys doing with my order?

It's been a long ride, folks. I originally ordered my XL Hybrid in October 2021 and I recently got my scheduling email for the week of February 20th. I'm hoping I get it in March.

XL Hybrid. Iconic Silver. Spray-in bed liner, bed extender, 360 upgrade, security system, console vault, smokers package, rear sliding window, power sunroof, fits system.

Congrats! You may be the only Hybrid XL that got scheduled this week.

Is your VIN number higher than 34,7XX?

I had it on my to-do list to call my dealer this morning and cancel my Maverick order. I checked my email before calling and lo and behold my freakin' Maverick order got scheduled at midnight last night!

Now my predicament is do I sell the Ranger and get the Maverick? I could basically recoup everything selling to Carvana. Would I regret getting rid of the Ranger? I love everything about the truck, except the MPGs (which aren't HORRIBLE, but not great [~22]), but I also really want the Maverick. The gov agency I work for just instituted a new telework policy, so I'll barely have to commute to DC anymore, which alleviates a lot of the fuel mileage appeal the Maverick had.

My wife is also heavily pressuring me to keep the Ranger because she likes it a lot. If only I could afford both...

Anyway, I'll step down off my pedestal of privilege here. Congrats to everybody who got scheduled!
2023 Rangers are going to be a bargain right now because the 2024 is being changed up quite a bit. IMO the 2024 looks better. Who knows if you don't keep the Maverick maybe the 2024 Ranger might be an option.

Checked the order tracker this morning and my 3/13 just got bumped to 3/6! Woo hoo! Maybe they are making strides with their supply chain issues.
