Anyone have theirs go into Neutral, seemingly on its own?

So here is a weird one. Probably somehow my fault, but I don't really see how.

Was at a drive-thru window. Brake Hold was on and working. Grabbed my food and tapped the gas to get rolling. Brake Hold let go and all was well. Immediately after the pick-up window, you need to take a hard left, then roll forward about 5 car lengths before needing to stop/pause to make a hard right.

When I was at that "needing to stop/pause to make a hard right" portion, my Maverick went into Neutral. The only reason I knew was because when I went to make the hard right, I had no power and I revved up to about 3,000 RPM. At first I freaked out a bit, but then noticed the gear shift was in Neutral. Shifted into Drive and all was well.

Not a big deal in the end, but did seem a bit......odd. I did put a drink in the cup-holder, but other than that I can't imagine how I could have bumped the gear shift. Especially since neutral would be rotating it counterclockwise, and I would have thought if I bumped the dial it would have been when putting the drink into the cupholder, spinning the dial further towards drive (doing nothing since it free spins forever in that direction with no change to the gear selected).

Thoughts? Am I just dumb and shifted into Neutral when putting a drink in a cup-holder? Or do I have ghosts in my Mav?

I had it happen once. I thought maybe I just brushed up against it. I'm not a big fan of the rotary dial location.

I have noticed that going from park to reverse Is sometimes so easy it scared me a little. It’s like the detention ( Either mechanical in the knob or electrical in the shift ) is super sensitive from park to reverse. I am always keeping foot on the brake with any automatic. (Old habit) so it’s not a problem but if youre not careful or don’t have dependable muscle memory it could be surprise!!

Most likely shifted without realizing it. With foot on brake there is no detent. There is a very slight feeling of a bump between selections. Obviously there so you can count bumps to know what selection is made without looking 1=reverse 2=neutral 3=drive the low button is a little had to locate without looking and needs a "I am here braille bump" on it. Opening driver door puts in park. Might be something that puts in neutral do not know.

Mine switched to neutral going down a highway and it was my long leg that caused it. First time I had no idea what made it happen. Second time it was obvious to me. There has not been a third time. It has never happened to my short legged wife.

Driving down highway, mine went into neutral after a person in front of me changed lanes suddenly. Several months later, I'm in a car wash, in neutral, when it put itself in reverse twice. No idea how it went from neutral to reverse then back into neutral...no I didn't touch the dial/knob.

Your Maverick knew you forgot the French fries at the drive up window 😊 . If you think that's odd for one brief moment when I started my Tremor I received a message in yellow telling me to depress the clutch to start engine. Don't know what vehicles have a manual trans. Maybe a Ford courier van and Mustang.
