Doug DeMuro reviews the 2023 Maverick Tremor.

On the interior he isn't exactly wrong is he? The interior is really the same between XLT, Lariat and both Tremor trims. The only difference being color. You don't actually get different seats or anything else appreciably different. I don't recall if the XL has the same seats.

From the video, he’s driving an XLT Tremor and the blue/charcoal/onyx black color scheme is identical to the base XL, but the seats are different (textured gray with orange stitching instead of the XL’s black seats). I notice that the Tremor XLT has the larger cluster screen that’s typically reserved for the Lariat, probably because of the additional drive modes.

I’ve seen a few comments that some people prefer the more subdued interior color of the XL instead of the orange of the standard XLT and the gold Lariat, so I’m wondering if that’s why they chose it for the Tremor. Interestingly, even the Tremor Lariat interior looks nearly identical to the XL, just with faux leather seats with the Tremor logo.

On the subject of Doug himself, I subscribe and enjoy watching his videos every now and again. He can be entertaining on camera, but I do miss his writing - dude could be laugh-at-loud hilarious at times. The line that forever got me was a review of some truck where he quipped that it was “the perfect vehicle for the man that thinks ‘fishin’’ is an appropriate honeymoon destination.”

I know reviewing a Maverick is scraping the bottom of the barrel for Doug but he didn't have to do the review if he didn't want to.

That quite possibly was the worst review of the Tremor I've seen yet, and likely the worst review I've ever seen Doug give.

yeah, he is. He said it’s the same as the standard mav. It isn’t. Also, no the xlt tremor has different texture and design than the lariat tremor. The tremors have different colors than their xlt and Lariat non tremor counterparts.

I LIKE Doug a lot. I'm just not a fan of this review.

Maybe I expected too much because I'm excited for my own Tremor and I just want to consume every bit of info on it and when I compare it to his other reviews it is rather on brand.

I can admit I was probably too harsh due to my own excitement.

The AWD is automatic in standard Mav and there is no way to manually engage it beyond the drive modes which cannot lock the AWD system.

I agree about AWD lock and locking rear being standard though. It's why I jumped up to Tremor once it became available.

Ya have the same thing in my Fusion. When driving in snow if you spin the front wheels to quick the AWD wont lock in. It cant if the front wheels are going 20mph and the rear going 5mph. You need to gently spin the front so it locks up then you can mash the throttle. Would be nice to have manual lock for ice and snow.

I already tested the benefit of 4wd lock on a frozen incline. Without the lock, made it part way up and spun out without the truck figuring out how to get going again. With the lock, made it without spinning out. Because of the lock, I was able to maintain momentum and not stop, which is a huge advantage.
More anecdotal testing to come.

I already tested the benefit of 4wd lock on a frozen incline. Without the lock, made it part way up and spun out without the truck figuring out how to get going again. With the lock, made it without spinning out. Because of the lock, I was able to maintain momentum and not stop, which is a huge advantage.
More anecdotal testing to come.

What kind of incline are we talking about here? From my own experience on frozen inclines I’ve had no issues with the standard AWD system on my fx4 making it up about a 16 degree incline of ice without a fuss and on the stock Pirelli tires at that

Same…16 degrees as measure by the truck. Frozen ground with trail control set at 1 mph…made a difference whether 4wd was locked or not. Pretty sure I took the same line both times, but obviously I’m not being scientific about this.

Same degree of incline on my fx4, this was at the top of one of our 10,000 foot peaks nearby to where I live so temperatures during winter up there stay pretty consistently around 20-30 degrees Fahrenheit and the incline that I’m talking about is paved and gets snow on it that then slightly melts and freezes over again so it’s plenty slick, but as I said, at least in my case the maverick climbed up it no problem

Yeah, like I said…I’m certainly not conducting scientific testing. I leave that to the YouTubers….but I know that they have had problems in the loose stuff. I was off pavement, but not in anything loose. Just frozen ground covered in oak leaves…which can be pretty damn slick.
I’m glad I have some buttons to press that turn lights on anyways.
