Most dealers will have fewer orders than allotments, so this doesn't really help anyone.
In my dealers case it definitely made a difference, many more orders than allotments.

I am sorry, but I do not believe this. Dealers do not know the final numbers on their allocations for the year, so they have no way of knowing if they are over or under.
Your opinion, each dealer knows their monthly allocations, my cancellation allowed another buyer to get the allocation and get scheduled.

To be fair 99% of the dealers out there wouldn't do anything like this. They would just keep your order in the system and if it gets scheduled sell it at a markup. If they re-allocate it to another customer they are most likely going to sell that one at MSRP whereas keeping your order in the system let's them do what they want with it if it gets scheduled and built.

Hope my dealer is a 1%er, he’s been straight with me so far. Awaiting the final deal, MSRP, no dealer markups, no require add-ons.

I ordered mine and a few months later I was able to purchase a cancellation order The dealership and I kept my order so if it gets built someone will get the same opportunity I did. They only mark-up used Mavericks. Ordered ones or cancelled orders that are new are sold at MSRP. Both mine and the ordered one are Ecoboosts so the less desirable option anyway.

To the o.p.
You put too much weight on what goes on here. If you look at the membership numbers it's something like 20,000

Some members on here , that post often, are total car nuts. They have multiple cars from multiple manufacturers. They buy and sell on a regular basis.

Then there are the ford only members who have multiple ford's. I have 4 right now. A classic, two beaters , and an almost 2 month old 2022 mav with over 5000 miles on it already

I've ordered 3 mavericks. #1 , never got built. #2 , got delivered after 9 months. #3 , a 2023 in case something happens to my 2022. Having another on order is my safety net.

I don't know if this is the best place to get a realistic view of the maverick market.

Some here have gotten my meaning in this message , and some have not . I am probably a little older , 66, than most on here , and maybe I have different morals . If you place multiple orders to increase your odds of getting one built , you have lessened the chances of someone else getting theirs . Yes , said duplicate truck will be built , the one to your specs , not theirs . Honestly , until I started seeing this practice posted on these forums , it never occurred to me this was a thing that gets done. My opinion , and I am entitled to have one . I still do believe in the Golden Rule .

Most dealers don't care if you have multiple orders with multiple dealers. Even @fordvideoguy told me he would take an order at Long-McArthur if I had a rollover order at my existing dealer. Ultimately, I didn't need to place an order with Tim, because my 2022 ended up getting scheduled for production and built in November. However, had I been rolled over, you can bet I would have placed a 2023 order with Tim and kept my original, rollover order with my original dealer.

Truthfully, and with all due respect to those folks who think it's "unfair" or "selfish," this scenario would have been good for both me the customer and both dealers. As the customer, maximizing the odds of getting a Maverick at MSRP is the goal. And the dealers are more than happy to use our names and driver's licenses to authenticate retail orders. Whether we take the truck or not is not a concern to them. If we do, then they have a guaranteed sale on a vehicle that will be on and off their lot in days. And if we don't, then they'll have another vehicle to add to a thin inventory and they can likely sell the truck with a markup.

So, honestly, multiple orders do not hurt customers or dealers. Any hurt inflicted upon other consumers, real or imagined, is open to debate.

I did indicate that I am specifically referring to those who have placed multiple orders when intending to purchase only one .

There are multiple posts on these forums stating that they have done so. I wasn't even having to look for them ; people are posting the fact .
I’m asking about you not other people. Opinions aren’t facts.

Just a general question / observation . I have noticed a lot of posters stating that they have placed multiple orders with different dealers . Over 80,000 orders were placed when order banks were opened in September . I can't help but wonder how many of these are duplicate orders for the same customer . It would seem to me that would actually affect how many trucks of the 80,000 plus are actually slated for one particular customer . Unless that person actually intends to buy every truck they ordered from different dealers ( and I highly doubt that ) , that truly does make availability for everyone else that much more difficult . And once they do get scheduled to be built , do they even bother to contact the other dealers to cancel their other orders ? I really would like to see everyone get their truck , me included . The selfishness of some is for sure causing others to wait longer , or change the build to something different .
With all due respect OP - if you did not order a Hybrid in 2021 (it looks like maybe you jumped on the train in 2022) then you were never really going to get your Hybrid anyhow.

To put the shoe on the other foot - I feel that your order placed for a MY23 Hybrid is selfish because it dilutes the possibility of MY22 hybrid orders from being filled.

I kindly request that you switch to an EB. Thank you.
