Just a general question / observation . I have noticed a lot of posters stating that they have placed multiple orders with different dealers . Over 80,000 orders were placed when order banks were opened in September . I can't help but wonder how many of these are duplicate orders for the same customer . It would seem to me that would actually affect how many trucks of the 80,000 plus are actually slated for one particular customer . Unless that person actually intends to buy every truck they ordered from different dealers ( and I highly doubt that ) , that truly does make availability for everyone else that much more difficult . And once they do get scheduled to be built , do they even bother to contact the other dealers to cancel their other orders ? I really would like to see everyone get their truck , me included . The selfishness of some is for sure causing others to wait longer , or change the build to something different .

I personally have 2 ordered (XL & XLT) both are hybrids. I know that the order was placed on the 17th and both were a priority 19. I figure I have a Snow Balls chance in Hell to get either one built as they were placed on the 17th of September. I plan on keeping both trucks If in fact I am able to get one or both. I am in the same waiting game as are thousands of others on this forum. I do hear stories of others that are not roll-overs from 22 that have already got their 23mav. All I can do is to keep my fingers crossed that I can get a Hybrid. I feel the pain of others that have been waiting so long without any luck. Keep the Faith!

Question for you: should ppl who own a 2022 Maverick be allowed to order a 2023 by this logic? It has greatly confused me how this forum seems to have no issue with customers ordering a second one if they already own one, yet someone who doesn't own one shouldn't order more than 1.

I ordered 2, both Lariats - a BAP and a Tremor. Once the Tremor was scheduled, I promptly called my dealer and canceled the unscheduled BAP Lariat to allow them to get another order scheduled. Nothing wrong with taking steps to insure you have the best chance of getting your truck as long as you are responsible and respectful of other customers. BTW, never intended on buying and flipping for a ridiculous amount. That’s BS.

I agree. I did order a 2023. I will admit it. I also own a 2022. But guess what? I did not receive my 2022 until mid-December. Months after the 2023 order banks opened and closed. So of course I ordered a 2023 since I had no idea if my 2022 would ever be built. Should I cancel my 2023 order now that I have a 2022 in the driveway? Some might say yes. But I plan to trade in the 22 for the 23. Why wouldn't I when I can most likely come out even on the trade and end up with a model year newer truck (and Cruise Control stock on the 23 XL trim when it was missing on the 22).

which came 1st, chicken or the egg?

Your question has been debated here multiple times here already. I have mixed feelings about it being greedy and "gaming the system" to increase your odds of getting 1 even. On the other hand if multiple trucks are actually delivered for the same person, and they only take 1- it creates more chances for people who missed out to possibly get 1 after all.

Yes, I'm all too aware of ADM and other dealer tricks- but some persistent folks around here have gotten them for MSRP using due diligence. Some also don't mind paying a little extra to get a truck without all the drama and waiting when ordering.

If the bubble is truly bursting and pricing coming back to earth like some people on here believe, it should only get easier to buy 1 off the lot for a reasonable price?

I walked onto a dealer lot a year ago and bought a FWD XLT (two months after I ordered my Lariat)
In July I sold my XLT to buy my Lariat
I ordered a 23 BAP Lariat because I like the headlights (scheduled for next month) and will be selling it for what it cost me because I don’t need a third car payment
I haven’t done anything that anyone else couldn’t have done
To those that were unlucky, sorry?
I don’t see how any of this is any other consumers fault

As far as 23’s being ordered at multiple dealers I thought Ford was going to raise the threshold for abandoned orders,at least that is what my dealer was told

It sounds like you are a big fan of selflessness. It is so nice to have a person with your sense of fairness here on the forum. Thank you for only ordering a single Maverick.

Can you get back to me after you have been waiting 14 months for your single order to be built? And they cancel your rollover? And the dealer you chose fouls up the process beyond all belief? I would like to hear if you will still place a single order for MY24.

Allow them to get another order scheduled? Order banks are closed.
I realize the oder banks are closed. It simply allows the dealer to use my duplicate order place to allow another customer to use an available dealer allotment to get their previously ordered vehicle scheduled.

I ordered one EB and one hybrid. Hybrid will be delivered in a couple weeks. EB is scheduled to be built in a couple weeks. Plan is to drive the hybrid until the EB arrives, then sell the hybrid for profit. Dealer has standing offer to give me $5k over msrp for the hybrid as long as I keep it under 5k miles. I just look at it as getting an EB for $5k under msrp (plus other discounts). If someone thinks that is selfish, that sounds like a them problem, not a me problem. I also buy a few cheap snowmobiles each spring and sell them the following fall when prices are back up, and every few years do the opposite with a boat. I also buy produce at one price, and sell it to customers at a higher price, in fact, that is how I pay the bills and feed the family. 🤷‍♂️
I have a brother with a very very good job, is over 70, retired and drawing $$$ while still working same 4 day/week job which actually adds to his retirement. For 40+ years he goes to garage sales on Fridays and Saturdays and buys things for resale while keeping a lot of the better stuff. He nets several k every year from that. He is a serial keeper and has 7-800 k miles on his passenger van he runs a van pool to/from work! Probably won't replace this one.🤗🤗🤗🤗

do you have any fact to back this up? Or is it just another opinion because everyone sure has one just like an ass hole.

I did indicate that I am specifically referring to those who have placed multiple orders when intending to purchase only one .

There are multiple posts on these forums stating that they have done so. I wasn't even having to look for them ; people are posting the fact .

***I don't disagree with your observation but let's think back here to the root cause. You are fast-forwarding 2 years and not addressing the reason that some felt the need to order a new vehicle and then perhaps another one on reserve. If FORD and their dealers would have been more transparent with their original roll-out of model year 2022 then this would not be a conversation. Yes, start the "unforeseen supply side issue" bugles, but at the end of the year we still had an exhausting journey with promises made and promised unkept by FOMO. This is an industry where seldom do two customers pay the same price for the identical product. Why is that? The new car delivery process too-often shouts greed and a buyer that orders more than one vehicle hoping to get at least one is playing on a field that big business drew the lines on, made the rules and scripted your play book. Selfishness?

Call it greed if you want. Getting scheduled is like winning the lottery. I'd much rather play with three tickets than one. There have also been too many stories of dealers throwing markup curveballs when someone's order arrives. I wasn't about to put all my eggs in one basket. You do you. The two trucks I will likely walk away from will be up for grabs for many of those who missed out on the uber short order bank window. Nobody loses here.
