Start counting days. Business day 31 (count based on days the Service Dept is open) send or hand a letter that you want to return the car under the Federal (or your State if terms are better) Lemon Law.

If you are willing to take the price you paid in trade against something else they have or can get, tell them that. If you'd be OK with the truck (quickly) repaired and back in your driveway tell them that. If not tell them they have had the truck sitting in their service department for 30+ days and you want a refund. And if you don't get a refund you will soon have an attorney - at zero cost to you - and everything just gets more expensive from there. Ford will have to pay your attorney, pay their attorney, probably some damages for inconvenience PLUS they STILL have to take back the truck or fix it.

I've done this before. It's not a bluff. It's not hard. It's just time consuming and annoying if the dealer continues to slow walk. Amazing though. The slow walk ends as soon as the lawsuit is filed. After sitting for 3.5 months the Escape was done a week after the lawsuit filed. A few months later we got a nice check. If the dealership had just done their job to begin with......

It is kinda like I told my daughters when they started dating. Men will treat you with the amount of respect you insist on. I guess some car dealerships (not all) are like this as well.
Great advice, thank you 👍

It seems like Ford won't fix anything

Popping noise in stero nope

Rust in rear tailgate hinge (came that way) nope

Rear wheel out of camber needs linkage replaced (like the older ford's they took the part from) nope have your tires wear out quicker

Battery going dead while parked nope thats normal

Auto start stop not working nope normal

Rotten egg smell nope cars just stink

Ptu error 4wd fault nope its fine

Awd unavailable cant replicate

Grinding noise in transmission in 3rd gear going up a hill nope can't replicate

Alternator cooking the battery at higher rpm nope tests fine (meter shows its bad)

Now it's leaking fuild. It takes 28 days to get it in to the dealer ends up costing me 60 bucks each time to go there never gets fixes you wait all day 8 hours they spend 15 minutes on it then back out. Can't find can't replicate
This sounds like a dealership problem. I had my Maverick in for warranty repair. The roof drip seals (rubber gasket type thing near the back of the roof on the top) needed to be replaced. The parts guy made me aware prior to the appointment that the part wouldn't be available for a couple months. So, we scheduled it as soon as the parts arrived at the dealer. When the day of the repair arrived, be I dropped the truck off as expected and got a shuttle ride home. The representative from the dealership called around 3pm from the hospital, his wife was in for some reason, to tell me that the repair was taking longer than they thought and that they were prepared to offer a rental....for a $150 rubber gasket warranty repair. Luckily, the repair did finish that day. Shuttle ride back to dealer and it's good as new.

I don't know why your dealer is behaving the way they are. My experience, in contrast to yours, makes me appreciate my dealer and my experiences. FWIW, my previous recall experiences with my Ford focus are part of the reason I'm here. They did me right. Wasn't always smtooth, but in the end, they did me right.

That said, I hope everything gets worked out.

BTW, my dealer is Five Star Ford in North Richland Hills, TX. Highly recommend

Nope Hyundai is the worst service… I will never get another Hyundai after the money pit 2011 Sonata my wife had. Bought it in 2014 with 23,000 miles on it and it was always in the shop for some kind of problem… Traded it in 2017 for a 2012 dodge grand caravan with 90,000 miles on it. Still have the caravan and have only needed the basic maintenance.
I have to agree with you about Hyundai. I had a top of the line 2015 Sonata, garage kept, with 29K miles on it when the paint on the roof started pealing off. Hyundai told me that the car was over 5 years old, and paint problems weren't covered. They wanted $1100.00 to paint the roof. Called Hyundai headquarters, and was told it's your problem. Got the roof painted for $400, sold the car to Carvana for 18K, and ordered my loaded Maverick Lariat the next day. Never had a problem with my Sarasota Ford dealer with other cars I've owned.

Does your state have a Lemon Law? Sounds like you are a prime candidate if they do.

My neighbor bought the high end Hyndai station wagon because of the long, long warranty...assuming it must be very reliable...In first 12 months the vehicle was in for 13 service issues. They were at no charge but on about half the service visits she was having to rent a car.

Better question: which state doesn't? Seems they all do. As it's state law, the exact requirements including repair attempts, time since purchase, procedure, etc. vary by state but they all have one..

When I had my 2003 F-150 XLT in for service at around 36K miles, the dealer came back and said the rear brakes were all rusted out and it would be hundreds of dollars to replace them. I was literally a couple hundred miles out of warranty and pointed out that brakes should not need extensive repair or replacement of rusted parts at that point. Didn't matter, no warranty.

I wrote a letter to the CEO and very shortly afterward his assistant called me and arranged for Ford to pick up most of the cost for the service. That was when Bill Ford was still the CEO, so lots of changes have occurred since then.

If I was having the same experience as the OP is now, I'd sell the truck and never look back. Fortunately, my Maverick has been stellar in the 14 months and 7.6K miles I've had it. (Knock on wood. Hard.)
In warranty or out of warranty brakes are considered a wear component and are not covered regardless of where you are in the 3 yr/36k mile warranty. This is explicitly the case for FoMoCo. If you buy an ESP I believe calipers are covered on plans BASE and above.

That was awfully nice of Bill Ford to pick up the cost for you. He's still the Executive Chairman today so not too much has changed.

I'm not talking about drums and shoes. I'm talking about the entire rear brake assembly that needed to be cut off the truck at 36K miles and a bill of about $750, if memory serves (we are talking about roughly 17 years ago, so memory of the details is a bit fuzzy). And yes, the drums and shoes are wear items so I didn't mind paying for those and the labor (a normal brake job), but not the extreme labor and ancillary parts that also needed to be replaced due to rust.

Calipers are not covered under warranty unless ESP also.

Not sure what point you're trying to make here. I'm describing an event in which the dealer quoted an extreme and extremely expensive repair involving cutting non-wear parts off the truck as a result of rust on a 3-yo truck just out of warranty. Feel free to try to debate the warranty details, but I'm not interested.

The only thing I care about and that is relevant to the OP is that I dealt with the situation by going to the top at Ford and getting a satisfactory, customer-friendly response.

Jeez another " Ford Sux" thread. Go to a different dealership but have realistic expectations as well. If the truck isnt doing what you complain about when they drive it , there isn't anything they can do. When you drop it off, if you cant show them what its doing or at least have a video of what's happening then it aint gonna get fixed more than likely unless it triggered a DTC.

You might have a crappy dealership no doubt - but saying "Ford wont fix anything" is certainly not true - "My crappy dealership wont fix anything", maybe. I have had my truck in service twice in 3000 miles. One was a seat cushion that the threads came loose in and the second was ..... well it actually ended up being the Ford camera I installed from Thinkware making a clicking noise when I went over a line - they returned my truck in 3 hours after dropping it off and said uhh your camera is the cause ( no I didn't purchase it from them either ) - whoops I turned off lane departure warning on the camera and it was gone - total charge - $0.00. I have been pretty impressed with the service department here. You can sell it for a profit without any problem.

Got this from the internet, therefore, it is the last word!!!!!!

Are lemon laws regulated at the federal level?

Lemon laws have been enacted in every U.S. state and the District of Columbia as well as at the federal level to protect consumers from manufacturers who intentionally sell defective or poor quality products.

15 visits across 2 dealers and 8 months for rattles, squeaks, steering wheel vibration, and auto start stop not working.

I have probably cost Ford a 1-2k in labor alone across my visits. None of my issues have been fixed.

Did Ford reach out? No.

Are they monitoring quality on these things to retool the factory and training as needed? Well, once again...15 visits over 8 months and two dealers.

That's plain incompetence and zero ownership of the customer experience.

The only thing my warranty has been good for so far is paying $60 a visit to Lyft and Uber.
