what is the typical dealer markup?

If the facts here are even remotely true and it involves that dealer (who appears to be quite active on these forums), that is extremely shitty. My XL is in transit now, and while my sales guy tried to add on unnecessary prep fees, they still technically are keeping it at MSRP. I ended up emailing the dealer principal and sales manager, and they took it off...but this is extremely shady here.

It wasn't his original order. He was lucky at the chance to slide in and buy it. But he was mislead in that process and then a 33% ADM added. So not as bad as if he had ordered and had something agreed to in writing but still super shady for any dealer to do. I'm thinking there was some miscommunication between sales person and management behind the scenes and he became the victim of it all. Glad he put the story out there for all to hear and judge for themselves though.

Yeah, probably, and he doesn't sound experienced enough with dealers to know that the sales person ultimately doesn't really have any say. If he would have gotten in contact with the sales manager/owner and explained the situation, they have been able to work something out, but I think any dealer adding ADM is a piece of shit...period. I don't care how the market is. There are a ton of dealers not adding ADM, so the ones doing it even if the dude didn't order the vehicle still suck. The chip shortage will not be around forever, and all these dealerships who are taking advantage of people now should be put through the wringer when the supply increases again.

Here is one of the highest % ADM I've seen asked for and it's even from a "respected" dealer around here.

I just got a quote on a 2022 Hybrid XLT Lux and CP 360 Sticker $28,580. Dealer is asking $43,000. Dealer is Imperial auto sales in Ma. What a rip off.

I paid $1,500 below MSRP.... but I'm a repeat customer trading in one of our two Ford's every 2 - 3 years, so I assume that helped. Been buying from the same dealership since 1987 (yes, I'm old).

For those that have taken delivery of their Maverick...what is the typical dealer markup?

This was not discussed when I ordered. I knew more than the salesman, but not enough to ask this question.
