If I wasn't getting the hybrid, I would have to consider and compare the EB Lariat to the Santa Cruz. Price is one consideration, but so are amenities and resale. Anyway to much calculation, I am sticking with the hybrid.
Price maverick is better , interior about the same to me .

if I wanted a Ford with an EB engine I would have ordered an Escape or or Bronco Sport, if I don't get the Hybrid Maverick so be it
You could've ordered an Escape hybrid too.

When I ordered mine, I was looking for a small hybrid pickup. I wasn’t looking for a small pickup — I already had one of those.

It‘s unfortunate that it has come down to this, but some people are going to have to switch, just to get a truck. With the way thing have developed, even an eco order might be delayed to the next model year.

I didnt vote, I dont want to change from hybrid, but I will change it if i get something for it. The MPG is the most important thing to me, but if they knock 1k off the price, or upgrade me to all wheel drive. through in something the help the punch in the gut heal a bit more quickly

The suspension/ride quality of the AWD/FX4 is better than the hybrid if that accounts for anything but yeah I didn't think many Hybrid orders would switch unless guaranteed a reasonable delivery date instead of thoughts/prayers-
Idk about this, I have a hybrid xl, and test drove a fully loaded lariat awd . . . I vastly preferred the hybrid

Not switching my order. Don't get me wrong the awd drove nice, just drove like a truck, whereas the hybrid drives like a race car

Not changing my Hybrid order, but do think I'll just let the dealership keep it. I picked up a '22 FX4 and the Hybrid is only going to save me about $40/mo in fuel (I don't drive a ton). I'd rather keep the AWD and turbo noises at that price.

Absolutely not changing. Waited over a year so far, I’ll wait 2 if needed. If Ford cancels my 22 order I’ll buy something else. Oh , and I want my $2750 private offer for putting up with this mess.

Yes, no doubt. I am sure there are ALOT of people who ordered more than one. Mostly flippers. I thought on it a good bit, should I order just one or should I order more.... because obviously if I order more than I personally aim to own and drive then I could be holding up opportunity for others to get theirs.

I personally just want one truck. Thought I could talk my wife into getting the other but she doesn't want a little truck, she wants to stay with the SUV layout.

So my plan is to take the first build that is built ( pending any of the 4 get selected to be built ) and I could either cancel the remaining 3, or let them be built if they are built and let the dealer keep them for dealer stock.

Letting the dealer have it for dealer stock still allows someone who wants one to get one. Yes they will likely mark it up, but flip side is the person buying it doesn't have to wait. Heck I called my salesman at one of the dealers yesterday to just see if he had any info on my orders and he replied that he didn't have any info but They had just received a maverick off the transport that a different customer canceled on and it was a near exact match to what I ordered. They wanted 5 grand over sticker and he offered to go 4 grand over and I could have went there last night and bought it... verses waiting months or a year or even not getting one of the ones I ordered at all.

Heck, I gotta say that 4 grand mark up sucks but it was very tempting to just pull the trigger and get the thing. Only reason I didn't do it is I feel confident that the market will change on these in the next 6 months and they will start to depreciate like pre covid vehicles did, and I would be losing way too much money paying over sticker. But I could be wrong on that.
Sure, somebody is going to get it, but it won't be someone who thought ahead, ordered what they wanted and then waited and hoped that they would get it. At the very least, it will be someone settling for what is on the lot, whether they have their own Maverick order or not.

I guess I have to dig in my heels in light of current information. I will either get my inexpensive XL Hybrid or I won't. I'm not changing.

Isn't that how it used to be for the most part? You decided you wanted a new car or truck and went to your local dealer and test drove a few to pick out what you would be happiest with and then bought whatever was best pick they had on the lot....

I am 50 years old and have bought a ton of new cars and trucks over my lifetime and I have never before custom ordered a vehicle till the mess Covid created. The closest I have come to that was maybe finding a vehicle I really liked at a local dealer but wanted a different color and would have the dealer try to locate one in the color I wanted at a different dealer and them do a dealer swap so my dealer could sell me the one in the color I wanted.

It isn't like there is a ton of variation in Mavericks. 3 trim levels, two power trains, 2wd or 4wd, and color changes. It is a far cry from the variation in say a Ford Super duty or even F150.

I bet once we get to a point where there is minimal or no mark ups on unsold / unclaimed trucks and especially once you see used ones going for under MSRP at places like Carvana or Carmax, people will be able to find a maverick they can be happy with, even if it isn't what they would have ordered exactly

Trucks are too expensive to be paying for something you ultimately didn't want. I'm a "stay the course" guy, and I don't say that just as an EB order who doesn't want the competition.

Any idea on percentage of Maverick orders that forum members make up? I think that the current 11-12% number of people willing to switch could really make a difference in my chances of actually getting built.
