I bought the Xl because I didn't see the value of the XLT or higher trim levels. I never use cruise control, but I know that is a sticking point for most. I did find a great deal on wheels locally, so I'm happy with the way it looks at its features.
Nice truck, I think everyone who has a Maverick is glad they bought it. One of the great things about the Maverick is after you decide what powertrain you want, you can build it up from basic XL, to a Cadillac Eldorado! The choices are endless. Love my Hot Pepper Red Hybrid highly optioned Lariat.

-version so basic - kinda ashamed.

Most people lack car knowledge, The only way they can tell that the truck is a more low end trim is the rims. If you swap on some aluminum rims 90% of the people will not know. Steel rims are now seen as retro cool by some people.

If someone is looking down on you because of the car you drive, it says more about them being a shallow person then anything about who you are.

You are a valuable person, you matter, and how fancy a car you drive does not make who you are.

Agreed, there are people in this country worth millions and sometimes billions of dollars driving around in very old, basic cars. Anyone who thinks they can assign any kind of value to another person based on the vehicle they drive is ignorant.

You live in New Jersey, right? Does it snow there? Do they put salt on the roads? Keep the steelies on. The last thing you'll want are custom wheels only to have snow, salt, and potholes ruin them.
Sure does snow here. I try not to drive during a storm when salt and slush are all over. Just got my truck and then it snowed. Not a great time to get a new car. But in the end it does not matter.

Now after driving and feeling it - I say I really enjoy driving the car it but I feel terrible bad about buying a trim-version so basic - kinda ashamed.
I think no matter how much lipstick you put on this pig, you'll always be ashamed of it because this badge will be your constant reminder that it's just a "BASIC TRIM VERSION".

Get rid of it and get something that you won't be ashamed to drive around, maybe a Lexus or a Mercedes.

I used them when I was having air loss in all my tires. They found the tpms was leaking. This after taking it to two different places that could not find the issue. Also had a rally wheel from my 69 Z/28 that was damaged they fixed it. I used to work in South Plainfiel for 36 years. 72 mile one way commute from Sussex county.
TY bud!

Thanks for your kind and encouraging words. But I disagree some assessment respectfully.

Billionaires like Elon Mask stays in a trailer but everyone know he is not so poor that he can only afford a trailer. But in our society, people living in trailer park are much poorer than other middle-class, IN GENERAL. And they don't have the power/name recognition as Elon. If OP doesn't want to be judged (by the wrong book cover) wrongfully, it's also perfectly fine to dress up his new XL for the convenience.

Thus, beyond the kinds words, other practical tips to enhance/dress up the XL are valuable, PRACTICALLY, especially OP himself was already aware of it and asked the question.

Being said above, my two cents of advice is to change the wheels. The steelies are the most visible feature of XL.

I've owned 4 brand new Rangers (1 was actually a lease), a brand new 1997 Escort, and now my Maverick XL. ALL with steelies, except the lease Ranger. I like em! Don't forget the standard steelies are now "Sparkle Silver", not flat or matte color! They are extremely durable and usually the smallest diameter wheels available on the market at each point in time, which means lower cost for replacement tires. I've seen dozens of beater cars in my lifetime with wheels that are obviously worth more than the entire beat up & primered host vehicle and I don't know who exactly is supposed to be impressed with that combo?

My leased Ranger was a 2006 Sport SCab version and can't remember what wheels it had. Our current 2018 F-150 is also a Sport SCab model and has lowest trim PAINTED Aluminum mags, wtf? Best part of the wheels discussion is you don't see them while you are driving, so who cares what they look like then? 🤷‍♂️

Ty guys! you re all very kind!

Im feeling better now!

Any tips about places to powder coat the wheels in NJ?
How about Plasti Dip, though requires warm weather to apply. Lots of YouTube videos on the subject.

Hi guys. There was some time I was after a Maverick but here in NJ there are no vehicles available and it seems there won't be for some time.

It happens I needed a (second) car out of the blue because my wife found another job which is further from home, which lead us to purchase another car.

So that was my clue to have my Maverick.

Drove one hour to PA to find a black XL Ecoboost FWD - which was everything they had - and I bought it. (eve though I had to pay an extra for it)

Now after driving and feeling it - I say I really enjoy driving the car it but I feel terrible bad about buying a trim-version so basic - kinda ashamed.

I look at that truck and think If I should try buying new wheels or something else to make it look nicer but I'm not sure about putting money on top of a XL.

What do you guys think?

Yea, that is called the Poverty Edition. I hope you did not pay much over MSRP for a stripped out truck. I feel for those little ones who have to be seen in that truck. Will your wife still speak to you?
Honestly, I have one just like it and a set of wheels really makes a big difference. Have fun trying to keep it clean.

Glad you're loving your Maverick, Jenny!
The Maverick stole me away from 23 years of Honda ownership, so that's saying something. So long as the Maverick holds up, I hope to continue my relationship with Ford in the future. You had the right product at the right time.

I was going to buy an XLT, but once I sat an an XL I noticed how much better to me the interior looked colorwise and ordered XL instead.

Way easier to change a set of wheels than the entire interior.

I did add copilot so it felt more updated and gqve me electric mirrors. Now that I rolled over to 23, getting cruise also. But it wasnt a deal breaker for me since I dont use it much.

To me, it came down to easier to make an XL look the way I want than an XLT. Although I am considering keeping the steelies now as I see them more.
