Hi guys. There was some time I was after a Maverick but here in NJ there are no vehicles available and it seems there won't be for some time.

It happens I needed a (second) car out of the blue because my wife found another job which is further from home, which lead us to purchase another car.

So that was my clue to have my Maverick.

Drove one hour to PA to find a black XL Ecoboost FWD - which was everything they had - and I bought it. (eve though I had to pay an extra for it)

Now after driving and feeling it - I say I really enjoy driving the car it but I feel terrible bad about buying a trim-version so basic - kinda ashamed.

I look at that truck and think If I should try buying new wheels or something else to make it look nicer but I'm not sure about putting money on top of a XL.

What do you guys think?

peer pressure is horrible.
Envy is worse.

there are really talented craftsmen on this site and they have been sharing the details of their projects. You can fix the trim level pretty quickly if your choose to spend the money.
Change the tires and wheels. Throw on some tint. Find some mods you like here on the forum.

I bought an XL Hybrid after wrecking my 08 Yaris. My other vehicle was a 98 Ranger and this is a tremendous upgrade to me. I never had 4 doors, never had power windows, never had fuel economy like this never had a car that connected with my phone and it's a decent ride. I didn't want cruise control, satellite radio or the co-pilot stuff. Heated seats are really not needed by me and I am pleased with it. To me it is great just the way it is and I will add a few accessories here and there but I don't need much and it gets me where I am going.

No, in life we sometimes have to do what we have to do at a specific time. Who cares what people think, if that XL serves your family needs at the moment then that's a win. The XL, XLT and Lariat are all variations on a theme and all have, basically, the same engines. If you want to assuage your ego put an order in for a next level 2023 and when it comes in get a price from CarMax, they gave us a lot more money for my Wife's vehicle that we traded in for her Maverick. Enjoy your truck, there's still people who haven't gotten their ordered one yet. Yours is a win no matter how you look at it. Good luck with it too:)

Your kids are absolutely adorable!!!

They don't seem at all disappointed with the XL trim.
I did basically the same thing plus paid $3500.00 dealer markups , wish I had cruise and power mirrors. But I’m sucking it up. Kinda like steel wheels also.not out to impress others. Really like the giddy-up truck. Really fun.

My friend, that truck is the equivalent of your favorite pair of Jeans. Keep it clean and it's fine for a date, or go out and play/work and get it dirty. I'd enjoy the crap out of every super-low-cost mile I put on that thing. Leave it stock, mod it a little, put some stickers on it... anything goes!

your wife got the new job farther away and necessitating getting a new vehicle. It's HER truck and HER problem now! j/k seriously what does she have to say about it? Has she driven it? Most women I know don't give a crap about wheels and such and don't scrutinize details the way us guys do. I bet she'd just be happy having a brand new vehicle with so many good things about it like safe and easy to handle size along with decent mileage - nothing to be ashamed of at all!

Dude... Really? Don't be ashamed. Be happy that you have something that is new and works and it seems to have made your kids happy enough. I'm not with the mindset that views trim levels or possessions as status symbols. Be glad you have what you have as it could be worse and we all end up in the same place in the end.

Good luck and enjoy the drive.

If it's really a burn now I'm sure it will hold its value for the foreseeable future. Trade it in when it's paid off and get what you like then.
