Looking for a fun summer car to pair with the Maverick. Ideally it would have a manual transmission and be a convertible. Have been looking at a MGB or Fiat but would love to hear your experiences and suggestions. I know both of those are kinda hit and miss but love the look of them.

I'm partial to Corvettes, any day of the week and twice on Sundays. 👍 😎

My ‘daily’* is an ‘08 MINI Copper cabrio. It’s one of the last 100 supercharged they made. Not a classic - yet - but it’s very fun to drive. It also get’s Greta mpg if I keep my feet of the go pedal.

* as a disabled wounded warrior I don’t drive much at all.

Miata Convertible would be a nice relatively cheap option.

Mazda MX5, NC version, so 2006 or newer with a PRHT. Our's is an 07, 130K trouble free miles, 30+mpg unless you have a VERY heavy R foot. Of course it has to have a 6sp manual too. The NA and NB are fine as well but a bit less refined if your tastes run in that direction.

I've had an MGB-GT, an MGB, and a Midget. All were fun cars, but they are like any classic car. They rust and people have done weird stuff to them over the years. Due diligence is critical if you don't want to get burned. Find someone who knows the marque or join an MG forum before you start looking and get educated on the trouble spots.

Miata's are a more reliable choice but the older the car, they more you'll need to treat each prospect as a classic car and apply due diligence.

I've had Corvettes, too, and you really better know what you're looking at there.

See here.

Good article and video on Classic Motorsports.
I think a Miata is the one to get now and hang onto If you just want to drive and enjoy. The older stuff may drive you a bit nuts.
