Why would I want to buy a 20 year old truck?

Well, I had a couple of those trucks and I can think of some reasons.
Cost. They're going to be cheaper to buy

Simplicity. Much more honest drivetrain and electronics. If there's an issue they're more user friendly. Easy to fix, easy to diagnose, easy to rig parts for it. one time I changed a clutch in my Mazda/Ford Courior in my garage and it took me maybe 3 hours.

Utility. I beat the crap out of mine and they just took it. Since I didn't pay too much I didn't worry about cosmetic damage or anything because they were so easy to fix.

Not a lot of power there but then just use the F150.

That said, I'm not giving up my Maverick.

My farm truck is a jeep Comanche. Let me tell you if it was in like new original condition with ac functioning, it would be my daily driver. My wife would still prefer the Maverick though. Really a perfect sized truck. Narrow, yet a long bed has significant utility. 5000lb tow rating with 2200lb payload is just right for anything less than heavy duty towing. 190 hp with plenty room to build(a crank swap will get ya 230/300 hp/tq) is quite ideal. On a stock setup with a manual high teens mpg should be easy. 4x4 is no nonsense perfection especially if it has the factory LSD D44 and front high pinion D30 diffs.

Congratulations, they named 6 trucks more rare to find than the Maverick. Quick look at an auto marketplace showed a total of 3 for sale across all 6 models, nationwide.
